That's a new one on me too. The Air is 2 inches longer, 3 inches wider and 1.5 inches shorter than a Toyota Camry. It seems appropriate for a sedan.that's one of the best parts! Every time I drive my 7 series it feels like im riding a rocking horse.
Is this a thing? I had not heard thismaybe bite the bullet and bring on Lexus stores for service
Just had a moment to check back in here and found this post. I don't know how much the negativity influenced my decision. But I decided a while ago that I wasn't getting as much value out of the forum as I used to. My guess is that several factors led to this. Negativity was very possibly part of it although it was not part of my conscious decision process. A large part of it is/was that many of the posts these days (good and bad) are related to Gravity. I have no problem with that but they are of limited interest to me as an Air owner.
Regarding @Buffalo Bob's original post, I am not surprised at all that the majority of posts seem to have taken on more of a negative tone. The company may not be reaching sales goals, but as time passes, more people are buying and experiencing Lucid vehicles. I remember years ago commenting that Lucid was going to have a rough go of it once more people started buying their vehicles. I didn't get a DE or even a GT. But, I still consider myself one of the earlier adopters. And I don't say that as a pat on my back. I say it because I KNEW what I was getting into and had the mindset of "there's going to be some bumps in the road with a new car and new company." But my comment at the time was based on what I expected to happen once the general public was exposed to more of what we had experienced as Lucid owners. Early adopters were/are willing to tolerate a lot more than the general public. When you combine the quirks/problems of the vehicles with the current very limited service network, it's a recipe for a lot of unhappy owners. IMO, Lucid has not fixed the vehicles sufficiently to truly increase the sales with the current service network. If the cars were near perfect, maybe the service network would be fine as is. But, with the ongoing issues with the vehicles (software and hardware), the limited service network/options, and the intolerance of the general public, you get what we have now.
Again, IMO, for Lucid to truly knock it out of the park with any future vehicles, they need to be much more reliable on a consistent basis, the service network needs massive expansion in locations and staffing/capacity, or ideally, both of those things.
I know many of you have had very few issues with your vehicles and a handful have had way too many. Most of us are in between I would guess. But, for those of you with few and/or minor problems living near a service center, life has been good. Problems + needing to have your car towed 6 hours to the closest service center for repair = no go for the general public. I hope they can improve on both fronts quickly.
I don’t disagree with most of your post but I do not believe this is true. Car forums tend to reflect the feelings of car enthusiasts who seek out car forums and are generally seeking help for problems they’re having.Car forums tends to reflect the feelings of the car owners.
had a similar situation with a friend, who was the actual person to tell me about lucid. He completely changed his tune, even with me saying we like our car. Was gonna get a gravity, went back to tesla, to many issues. Their are ALOT of videos now surfacing more and more of very bad publicity for lucid. Its not a good thing, adn these youtubers people hear them and just rather not feel like guinea pigs when their spending the money. Most car owners are not active on forums. I mentioned earlier that I personally know a small cluster of four other Lucid owners, and none of them participates in online groups.
Their observations are much more basic and practical: the Air is low and wide, which can be inconvenient in everyday use. These are the owners who scrape the front end on deep dips or badly rash their wheels on curbs -- even though that low, wide stance is also part of what makes it so aerodynamic, spacious, and distinctive.
I agree that a disproportionate amount of internet bandwidth on forums goes to complaints rather than positive ownership experiences. But I do not think most owners are sitting on forums absorbing that negativity. To me the larger concern is what a prospective buyer sees when they simply Google “Lucid Air.” or do Lucid Air search on YouTube. The Engineering Explained videos are likely to come up, and seems like those segments reached far beyond the usual forum crowd. In my opinion, they were overly nitpicky and did real damage to the brand’s image in search results. I know one car-shopping friend who was genuinely scared away by them, despite my own strong endorsement of the car and nearly three years of generally very positive ownership.
On the contrary, vast majority seem to be on the price of the car. Im sorry, but no way can you afford a 100k car and say, "well its just 100k of my money, let me piss it away on a garbage car" No one in their right mind that can afford that unless your a billionaire would say it. I looked up a few options before, ultimately for us, the lease deal was good enough to test a new car company. If they stay open, ultimately I do believe they have the stuff to sell the cars at higher prices, but im not gonna say my car is worth 90k right now new. Its just not.I’m a month in. Love our GGT. No major issues. Service is responsive. Customer service is also. Whether this vehicle cost $70k or $120k, we were going to get one. Price wasn’t a factor, it was the best vehicle for our lifestyle. I imagine the vast majority of people buying/leasing these vehicles are in the same boat.
If you’re reading this and on the fence, I say lease one and try it out. I think the majority of us are happy with our vehicle. To each their own.
Some aren’t aging well either. I have a 22 Air Dream Edition (I think? Maybe Grand Touring) loaner right now. It looks good, but there’s a parking camera error half the time it starts, key fob not detected error sometimes, the HVAC buttons are all loose and floppy, and there’s so much exterior weather stripping that it gets pretty rough and ragged. You would not think it was a $120k car capable of destroying corvettes while rubbing your back.had a similar situation with a friend, who was the actual person to tell me about lucid. yeah i had a grand touring as a loaner with i think it was like 35k miles. Youd think it was 100k, tears in the seats, weather stripping coming off. Sensor issues as well, but I honestly hope since it was an early model, just like you 22, that thats not the case. I leased, with the hope of purchasing, just dont see that as an option anymore. Some aren’t aging well either. I have a 22 Air Dream Edition loaner right now.
