Oh ok, I thought you guys have the EA chargers and Ionna which have 400kw ?! or are those not much around?
It depends entirely on the state. California has plenty of very fast charging. Arkansas, not so much. :)
 
I understand ;) In Europe, at least in many countries it is nowdays really good.

Alright, but 150kw should almost every EV nowadays be able to charge, correct?

Thanks for the update though, I am considering the GGT because of the charging speed over my audi etron which has max 150kw ;)
They are around, esp in the SF Bay and coastal areas (& LA too) but I've yet to see ANY vehicle pull even close to the full 400Kw for more than a few min.

Geeeez, can you tell Lucid and Tesla are/were both headquartered in Calif or what?
 
I had my first bad experience at a Tesla supercharger. It had 20 stalls with one other car charging. I had 7% battery. Charging started at 200 kW or so and then gradually dropped down to about 120 kW in about 10 minutes, with my Gravity saying station limited. Moved to another stall - same thing. Moved to a 3rd stall and once again the pattern repeated.

My family was done with food in that 1/2 hour so I gave up and continued my trip with roughly 60% charge.

Yeah in the States due to limitation of chinese cars not likely soon.
In germany there are already a few cars.

Last time I tried to plug into a 350kw EA at a low SOC on a road trip, I got the ā€œspeed limited by chargerā€ alert. Never got above like 200kw.
 
that is not good.. not sure if it is the car or the charger.
There was another thread somewhere around here with no other cars so empty charging lot and still limited by charger error message.

Chargers are often limited regardless of load. I have not seen speeds drop with Ionna, for example, but have definitely seen it at Tesla and EA.

In my case, it was the Tesla station, with the Gravity correctly reporting that the charging rate was station limited.

I stopped at another Tesla supercharger to do a splash and dash on the final leg of my road trip, (which I wouldn’t have needed if the previous station hadn’t throttled). It held at roughy 200 kWh from 13% to 30%, confirming that the throttling at the previous site was not a problem with the Gravity.

I have had speed limited at Ionna when someone else plugs in, even if it's a poky Rivian charging at 50kW.

I really, really hate how nearly all of the non-Tesla charging hardware does 50/50 fixed partitioning between stalls. I've only once gotten 350kW from EA, because usually someone else is plugged in these tiny 4-stall stations. Same with Ionna. I love the concept that Gravity Charging has (30kW modules dynamically allocated and aggregated across all stalls) but they seem to have opened one station in NYC and then died.

But 200kw so you got an touring and not a grand touring?

This was a Gravity Grand Touring, Tesla v3 supercharger, station limited. I don’t remember the exact figure - I was just happy it stayed above 200 kW after my last charging experience.

I think it was 210-215 kW. This was the in-car reading, though. Tesla v3 is supposed to be able to output 250 kW, but I don’t think it reached that and there is loss for the up-conversion.

More like - can you tell which state had the best incentives for both companies and consumers to go electric? Without CARB and the state’s economic support the whole EV market would be waaaayyyy smaller.
