Hi there! Excited to be test driving the AP and AT this Wednesday. Looking at possibly replacing my 2018 Tesla Model 3P with one of these. I’ve never even been in a Lucid before, but I do have a long history of owning some exceptional ICE automobiles in the past and started my EV journey with the 2012 Volt, then 2016 Volt and then the Tesla.

Back when I bought the Model 3P, I had previously test drove the Model S and felt that car was great in a straight line but lacking the driving dynamics I’d want to live with long term.

Still not sure about Buy vs. Lease if I do take the plunge on the Air and leaning towards Sapphire with Santa Cruz leather interior.

Any / all input appreciated!!

Hi. AT owner, here. The driving dynamics are closest to my former 540i-MSport, at least on dry or wet pavement. I haven't had to drive the Lucid in snow, yet. The AT is much more powerful than the BMW, but controls it very well. I drove and liked the Model 3 and Model S and we were ready to buy and S until we drove the Lucid. We ended up leasing because the numbers were good and we were close to choosing the GT. We still might want to trade up at the end of the lease for the added range of the GT and whatever other improvements happen by 2027.

I've been owning a Tesla since 2012. I wanted more range so I got a 2022 Lucid Air Grand Touring rated for 516 miles. I love Lucid's range as I did a round trip from CA to the East Coast and back. Even without a road trip, long-range still gives me lots of options without range anxiety.

I am not a "car" person, but I could manually maneuver a 30 MPH curve easily with 55 MPH on Lucid. Tesla (2012 Model S, 2017 Model X, 2018 Model 3) does poorly with that same curve.

I found Lucid is quieter. It's smoother than Tesla's air suspension. It's more comfortable with lots of space from the trunk to the rear passenger leg rooms...

It's more relaxing with Lucid's ADAS as I could manually go over its 90 MPH limit and the ADAS doesn't scold or suspend me for a week...

Since it's a high-tech item, it will get obsolete, so it makes sense to lease and update the tech along.

Enjoy the test drives. FYI, the only way to get the Sapphire color is to buy the $250k Sapphire. It also only comes with a special Mojave interior.
My bad! I meant Fathom Blue Metallic! Yeah, the Sapphire, while awesome, is a tad excessive for my needs as a DD!

Fathom Blue with the Stealth package is one of the best combos I’ve ever seen. Sapphire is next level, but so is the price tag.

I am actually leaning toward the Platinum trim version. Funny, I have never liked blacked out trim. By way of example, I greatly prefer the chrome trim / alloy wheels on my 2018 Model 3P to the current black trim / wheels on Teslas. I guess I am dating myself!!!

I drove both the Touring and the Pure today at the Short Hills, NJ location. I drove the Touring first and then the Pure. Other than the better acceleration of the Touring, I preferred everything about the Pure's driving dynamics better. Feel on turn-in, overall weight balance, feeling of the front end...all were significantly superior IMHO to the Touring which I would describe as a "muted" version of the Pure.

Fit and finish were excellent in the 2025 Pure that I drove and the car was WAY more quiet inside than the Touring which, as has been noted elsewhere in the Forum, exhibits a pretty significant audible whine from its front motor. I also like the new, lighter headliner fabric that is coming on the 2025's -- a beige / grey kind of color as opposed to the black previously. It definitely makes the car look and feel more spacious. Of course nothing like the stunning glass available on the Touring, but...

I placed a deposit this evening. In the end, although I was fairly sure I was going with Fathom Blue, I decided on Zenith Red / Platinum, Santa Cruz Leather, 19" wheels, DDP, SS, and the C&C Package. I am 99% sure I will do a 36 month lease. Now the 2-5 month wait begins.

P.S. Looks like I will need to change my Forum Name to Red Lectroid when I am allowed to (after November 25)...

Congratulations!! I, too, have a pure in Zenith Red. I did a 36-month lease as well. I originally wanted Fathom Blue, but the only one in stock to take advantage of the in-stock incentives was Zenith Red. I was not initially thrilled about red but fell in love the moment I saw the car. It is one of the best colors for the air. I am sure you will enjoy your amazing driving machine so much.

Thanks! Any pics of your car? I'd love to see a red one in the "flesh."

I don't have one handy, but I can take a picture once the sun is out later today. In the meantime, check out this thread. There are many there.

After a day of indecision, I switched back to my original spec — blue rather than red and added back the upgraded Dream Drive an audio options. Now the “2-5 month” wait for delivery begins…

Congratulations on your upcoming new car! Enjoy :)

An added benefit is, you get to keep your user name! Congrats!
