Target $0

Did you really buy the shares because it didn't give you minivan vibes or because you thought $5 was a good price and/or you are dollar-cost averaging? ❓

I bought to DCA. But, I wanted to check what algo you are using.

DCA, thought of holding off for now but damn, the Gravity is a looker. I’m optimistic sales will greatly improve.

2 billion market cap is too low for this company.

Have driven my Gravity for two weeks. Love it. Also bought some more shares. What the heck, why not.
We're loving our Gravity more and more each day. I frankly didn't expect it to enjoy it so much.
It makes me confident in Lucid no matter what the internet armchair pundits say.

I hope you are correct!

Exactly! Does that mean Rivian R1/BMW/Kia/Volvo, etc. will have free rein on the mid-size EV market in the US until late 2027/early 2028?!

That's a LOOOOOG STRETCH!
The last piece of information we had related to Midsize was 2026 EOY start of production. And we have had no update on that since then.
We have had zero official information from Lucid indicating late 2027/2028 on start of delivery.

Please stop panicking over information nobody outside of Lucid (and probably the PIF) has.

I can help keep this simple: if a claim has been made without any evidence, then you can freely dismiss it without any evidence.

I know. But labeling it as a rumor still means spreading the rumor. “Journalists” with less integrity take that, run with it, don’t source it, and suddenly its a rumor that became “news”

So unless there’s a primary source, I (personally, at least) try to avoid posting unsubstantiated rumors.
Exactly. If there's a claim made without credible and substantial evidence, then we can dismiss it without any evidence.

If they are indeed 6mo (their words) away from delivering Cosmo, that's where those 2027/2028 date extrapolation came from.

Best is Lucid go on record with their guidance. Compared to its major competitors, Lucid is late to the market with mid-size. The question herein is how late. People are going to speculate based on Lucid's past performance as well as the time/effort to get to these milestones. You can dismiss it all you want.

And Kia/Hyundai have been how many years "late" compared to Tesla.
Volvo's EX60 and BMW's Neue Klasse have been how man years "late" compared to Tesla and the Kia/Hyundai group.
BYD and other Chinese have been how many years "late" to Tesla

And yet all of the brands mentioned above have been making a killing.

So relax. People can convert from different brands. People can wrap up a lease and decide to try a different company altogether. People can convert even from premium brands if the offering is convincing enough. (E.g. Kia EV9 got buyers coming from Range Rover),

I still don't understand why anyone is buying more LCID right now when there are so many other stocks that are appreciating significantly AND paying nice dividends.

Because I'm buying LCID with money I'm comfortable with losing. And that I already am investing in a diverse range of equity ETFs so I have no concerns if an individual stock doesn't perform well.

While it's certainly a race to profitability, I don't see it a race to win the mid-size EV market, or letting the others have free reign over it. The midsize market is big and Lucid is/was never gonna dominate it. Nor are they gonna get shut out of it because others offered some models sooner. In fact, sometimes it's better being the latest and greatest, getting a bump from the hype.

The race for Lucid isn't about the competition, it's about themselves. The market is available for the Cosmos and Earth if they can meet their goals for price, design, performance, quality, dependability, production rates, etc. And not fumble the roll-out like they did the Gravity.

Swinging for a home run.

And while Tesla is a bad example in so many ways, people can't help but look at that as the success story to hope for.

Hyundai is a HIGE industrial giant in Korea. So is Volvo. So is BYD. They can afford to be late and capture the market. When they enter a market, they have both the financial and technological wherewithal to power through it. At its current standing, Lucid is a one-tune act!

I am NOT saying Lucid has to enter the mid-size market at all. Perhaps they can enter late, say 5 years late, and deliver a humdinger mid-size that blows everyone's socks off.

But that's NOT want Lucid is saying. They are on record to introduce a mid-size EV SOON to compete. My point is, does the rhetoric match the reality? Disappointment = expectations not met!.

You can easily flip the industrial giant argument around and look at the VW group. Porsche is a huge industrial name and yet they're pulling back on their EV plans. Lamborghini is a large industrial name in Italy and even with the backing of the VW group they still backed out of EVs. Porsche even dropped out of their joint ownership with Rimac over Bugatti.

Volkswagen, for all of its massive size, tripped on the EV game with their in-house development so they had to get Rivian involved.

We can flip that argument around again. Lucid is among the PIF's first in their big moves to ramp up manufacturing in Saudi Arabia. The PIF has the money to power through how long it takes to make midsize come out because they want midsize to be the shining example of Saudi Arabian manufacturing.

Lucid's challenge is not lacking money and PIF backing. Lucid has the powertrain and packaging talents. Lucid's problem is execution and scale. People are taking PIF Money = Guarantee Success and Scale. I wouldn't bet on that!

Meanwhile Saudi Arabia has an order of 50,000 units from Lucid, with an option for an additional 50,000
So there's already the demand for their scale. And there's more to the automotive market than just the US. There's a whole lot of other countries out there that would gladly take in EVs

I understand that. Perhaps that's all fine. Lucid is a captive PIF play where they are investor, manufacturer, and consumer of their products. That's the captive eco-system.

If those are the parameters, then there is no problem.
And automotive companies don't need to start with global rollouts from the get-go. BYD started for Chinese buyers only, and now they're outselling Tesla globally even without being in the US.

I didn't buy a Tesla, and I have no plans to ever buy one. I am not a fan of Tesla. That said, inasmuch as I don't like Tesla, I give Musk a lot of credit in visioning and building the EV (and beyond) eco system. Tesla today is not just Model Y. Its GigaFactories, batteries, Solar, Superchargers, that enabled the whole EV ecosystem. When it comes to leadership in the EV market, Lucid is a bit player compared to Tesla.

BYD is, in some respects, a China copy of Tesla. Again, broad base products and services. China, with its national vision, cornered the rare-earth market, key ingredients for EV and high tech, while the US fossil fuel reliance hampered its vision and standing in the EV industry. Honestly, I think it is already too late for the US to catch up!

As for Lucid, aside from the PIF Sugar-Daddy buying 50,000 EVs, what are its plans to scale and succeed in the volume market segments? Perhaps the answer is, they won't participate and just be the premium end of the EV world.

That's why the stock is $5!

even if BYD "copied" Tesla they learned from it and now build good cars.
And again, you don't need to be in the US to be a successful auto company. America isn't the centre of the world.

China is a country that is poor in fossil fuel resources. But China recognized that impediment long ago. Instead, they invested massively in solar, hydro, wind, rare-earth, etc. as a national prerogative. The US, especially in the past decade, went the other way. in the pockets of big oil.

5 years ago, when I took my kids to visit Iceland, I needed to rent a car to drive around the island. I was amazed how much the Icelandic people embrace EVs. Why? They have no natural petroleum industry. Iceland is basically a big volcano and they have geothermal! Geothermal generate electricity and that is their primary energy source! And they maximize it!

Earlier, I implied that China has cornered the rare earth market. I didn't mean to say it that way. We have a lot of possibilities in our western states (Utah, Nevada, California, Arizona, etc.) that have similar potentials. But it takes a national resolve to get us there. We need to kick the fossil fuel habit. My AZ house is almost 100% solar through the year, including charging my two EVs and a Plug-in-hybrid.

I hope we reinvigorate our resolve to develop our renewable energy and rare-earth resources.
