Switched My Order Today from a Pure to a Grand Touring

They eliminated the motor whine with revised motor mounts? That’s the first I’ve heard of that. I thought only the RWD Pure was essentially free of the front motor whine for obvious reasons.
It is interesting that they have addressed the motor whin with the modified motor Mount! I always thought that RWD Pure was the only model with minimal front motor noise due to its design. If this new update applies to other models, it is a solid improvement for overall driving experience and comfort.

I significantly preferred the driving feel and handling of the Pure to the Touring.

I'm curious which wheels/tires were on the cars you test drove. I was surprised at the difference between an Air Touring with 19" wheels and all-season tires and an Air GT with 21" wheels and summer tires (stock tires in both cases). Even without getting frisky the GT felt much more stuck to the ground and provided more road feel (not necessarily harshness).

I attributed the differences to tires, but I haven't driven the Touring and GT back to back with the same tires to confirm.

I'm likely in the minority but I actually like the motor whine. Just enough driving feedback and reminds me of the Formula E cars. LOL

Make that two. I like motor "whine" too. And this is not my first EV. Probably still in minority, but you are not alone ;) :)

Not my first rodeo either. My daily has been EV since 2015.
Nissan Leaf SL -> BMW i3 REx -> BMW i8 PHEV -> Lucid Air Grand Touring

Add me to the list as well. I love the motor whine. I was in traffic the other day and I usually have the music loud but this day I was on low volume. The motor whine was so cool. It feels like something of the future to me. I would have to agree with you guys I am a fan of this feature. It’s also a great feature for people around you. They are aware of a EV coming. Nice safety feature.

My ‘25 AGT has roughly 1/2 the motor whine of the ‘22 AGT I spend time with. Still there, just less in your face. I think it’s a great balance of having some audible feedback and none…

Switch your insurance carrier to PURE. They handled my accident 2 years ago without a quibble with the body shop charges plus allowed me a rental car up to $15,000 while my car was being worked on.
Pure is great but it is a different kind of insurance (declared value) and considerably more expensive. As in so many things in life, one gets what one pays for.

“Agreed value” is the technical term.

Agreed on the rest.

I have a 2024 GT since August of last year. I love my car. One thing is bothering me, and since you all own a GT, I thought I may ask you if you are experiencing the same. When I reach 65 Mph and above, I start hearing the wind, as if there is a leak through the window. I find this strange for a car of this caliber. I asked the service center and they said that this is normal. Do you all feel that noise?

I do hear some wind noise from the side view mirror area at freeways speeds, which sounds like it's coming through the window. AFAIK this is typical of the Air.

There are NUMEROUS posts about wind noise on the driver side (along with cold air infiltration during winter months) since the beginning of Air's launch. Several solutions have been suggested and tried (by owners and service centers) with varying degrees of success (sustained and unsustained). There do appear to be different sources/reasons to the sound, thus the different approaches to resolving it.

I, for one, have accepted this phenomenon as a design/material consequence of the Air and simply live with it. Prefer to reserve my energies for more significant considerations. It is a nuisance for me, but not a deal breaker. I just love driving it! :)

I agree with you and me too I love my car. I just wanted to see if this is common and not just an issue with my GT. When I started looking at Lucid, I saw a video by their CEO, saying that the car is sealed completely, and that you will not hear a thing. I guess their assembly line missed that part.

Unfortunately, more common than not. 😞

They do test it immensely well; I’ve seen the smoke tests and air quality tests and sound tests etc.

Buuuuut - they leave the factory fully sealed. Unfortunately sometimes the seals … move. Or expand. Or contract. Especially as the doors continue to open and close.

That’s also why it’s intermittent and not the same across vehicles.

I have had mine fixed a few times, but it seems at least weather dependent, and probably others factors too. Right now mine is silent, but again - hasn’t always been.

Thank you for your feed. I drive an Audi Q8, and driven CTS, both are much older than my 2024 GT, and I have never heard that noise. When I pay around 140K for a car, I would expect it to be up to that level and even better. In addition, their technology, on the software side, falls behind many other brands. While I understand that the hardware may need more time, they have no excuse to fall behind on the technology side. Are you happy with the phone app and the features it offers? I think it misses a lot.

Am here, just to share my short experience with other experienced owners like yourselves, and see if my issues are isolated or common. Does your car act erratically. I can give you a few examples from my experience.
1- my car doesn't unlock every time I get close to it, and i will have to either use my key or press the door handle, although I have both the fob and the phone on me.
2- so far, i had a few times, when it doesn't start charging at the time set up to start. It starts when i wake up in the morning and open my phone.
3- it locks itself even though the phone is inside. can you imagine you took your car, using the phone and not having your key with you?
4- i think that before it locks itself, it should check if any window is open and close it.
there is no room here to list all the improvements they should do with the software part. They have no excuses to leave those behind.

I suspect your A8 and CTS had features that fell short (as do all vehicles). So, selective highlights are to be expected.

At this point in the game, the highlights, lowlights, mediocre-lights, etc. are well known. The criterion for me is the total owner experience, regardless of acquisition cost. (Would love to hear from any Bugatti owners on this forum about how flawless their vehicle is.)

If that total experience works for you, great. If it doesn't, sell the car.

How can you compare hearing wind noise in an EV vs. and ICE? At 65 mph wind noise is totally overshadowed by engine noise…
