Your response has nothing to do with how a thread gets so sidetrack and can be a turnoff for a potential new buyer, especially the ones like me who still likes their Model S, but also really like Lucid. There are plenty of other threads on this forum that talk about the same responses over and over again. Can get to be a turnoff for someone that is not turned off by Tesla, but also intrigued and is interested in getting a Lucid. So, hopefully that explains why me and other potential new buyers are active on a Lucid forum. Really don’t understand why I need to explain that though, as I would not waste my time being on any forum reading about something that I would not be interested in. 🙂

You're right - my response had nothing to do with how a thread gets sidetracked - your point was well taken - so instead of going down the path of how sidetracked these threads can become, I was just looking for your answer to the OP's question. As you know, we all learn from each other and I was genuinely interested in your perspective. I'm good. :)

I truly loved my Model Y, I really did. Even the FSD which was actively trying to kill me at one point was working like it should.
But I wasn't fully aware that Musk was the Bond villain that he is when I bought it so I was looking to switch.
I was always keen on the EV YouTube channels and so much of the Gravity appealed to me in the early reviews but I also liked what Rivian was doing.
I test drove a Rivian R1 in KoP during an event so I scheduled a test drive of the Air (Gravity wasn't in the show room yet) for the same day since they just opened up the Lucid showroom there that week. Not being a sedan guy I was still very impressed by the engineering and I simply didn't like how unwieldy the R1 felt. I ordered a Gravity that day (the Titanium) and waited for a showroom car to test drive and a month later I finally drove one and couldn't wait anymore for the color of choice and chose an incoming Aurora instead spec'ed out the same way. I have no regrets and it's by far my favorite car I've owned and driven. Even with the early glitches

When the Model S Plaid came out, I lusted for one, but knew I wouldn't buy my "retirement car" until this year.
Then:
1. Elon outed himself (really 90% of the reason I would never buy a Tesla)
2. Tesla only comes with glass roof, which I hate
3. My friend's Model X was one of the loudest non modified cars I've ever been in
4. The yoke (really? who thought that was a good idea)
5. Air showed up and pushed all the right buttons-what a fantastic looking, driving, handling car

My only regret is I can't afford a Sapphire
 
Drove a Model 3 Performance at a Mercedes electric event. Besides the interior and door handle shenanigans, the let off at 60mph by both the EQS and Model 3 were a huge turnoff. The front end also lifted under hard acceleration giving it a feeling of floating above the payment.

Final nail in the coffin over a Model S was range. 500+ miles was alluring way back in 2017 and still is today.

The only "regret" was accepting a GT-P loaner when I had a GT. My GT felt dead forever after in comparison, and when it was totaled, I pulled the trigger on the GT-P for the liveliness and improved charging.

When the time comes, I'll pull the trigger on a Gravity GT and Sapphire (hopefully before end of year). I've been in a Corvette Z06 Stingray. I've also seen the Model Y in person. Neither have the appeal of a Lucid given the range, efficiency, power, and handling. The latest Corvette doesn't do anything for me and being a 2 seater eliminates itself from consideration. Same arguments apply to the Plaid+ Track whatever as the Model 3 based on third party reviews for handling and interior.
 
Gravity was so much better with regard to:
1. Road Noise
2. Comfort
3. I'm tall so entering and exiting the vehicle was so much better with Gravity.
4. Range
5. Charging speed
6. So well thought out in terms of engineering
7. Handling (Steering)

This was a no contest choice but being an early adopter has been interesting,
Wish-list would include to opportunity to purchase an extended warranty if I wanted to purchase my leased car at the end of the term.
A customer service option that would answer questions for new owners that would make the transition from a Tesla to a Lucid easier, such as, "Can I still use my existing Home charging unit on my Lucid and what are the benefits for upgrading the home level 2 home charging unity.

Overall so glad that I made the choice to purchase my Gravity.

Yeah, I forgot about the yoke. And taking away indicator stalks? How dumb and unsafe was that….

Tesla doesn’t put safety first, another reason I chose Lucid.

I really want to like the Lucid. It’s the best driving car I’ve owned. But I still value software more than pure luxury. Also the post warranty repair cost is kinda scary. I’ll not be getting another one.

When you look at everything software, hardware, build quality, driving experience etc, I still think a Rivian is a good balance between Tesla and Lucid. I might get an R2.

It’s interesting OP have an announcement to make tomorrow which coincide with Rivian’s R2 price reveal date.

1) I started with wanting actual knobs and button. That was a big deal for me.

2) I wanted a car that was nice to drive. I test drove the Lucid and it was the smoothest driving car I’ve ever driven.

3) I was and am nervous that Tesla is too reckless with the self driving software. I fully believe self driving will eventually be safe, but I don’t trust Tesla’s safety testing. Tesla’s primary product is their stock. And they will do whatever they can to to juice that stock. So I am nervous they will deliver the software before it is ready to give the stock a short term boost.

4) I really don’t like the Tesla interiors.

First of all, we do have a Tesla in the household and tbh, my wife prefers that vehicle because FSD finally works as promised.

Now, my reasons for buying my '23 AGT over Model S Plaid...
  1. Range
  2. Grown up interior. Knobs where there should be knobs, switches where there should be switches, TURN SIGNAL STALKS, an actual round steering wheel, I could go on...
  3. Second row roominess
  4. Engineering competence (motors, batteries, packaging, aero)
  5. As a total package, Air is at or near top of class in everything that is important as a luxury performance EV
Things that were in favor of the Plaid...
  1. Hatchback
  2. Supercharger network, though as is the case for many (most?) performance / lux EV owners, I will do 90+% of my charging on Level 2 at home. Plus EA and EVGo are getting better and iONNA is super promising.
 
I’m hoping the announcement is additional incentives for loyal current Lucid owners looking to buy another.

so I didn't come direct from Tesla to Lucid, so maybe I don't count. But my EV journey was Model 3 > Rivian R1T > BMW iX > Lucid Air. I actually really enjoyed my model 3 (long range RWD model) and owned it for four years, which is the longest I've ever owned a vehicle in my life. The Rivian was unreliable and the service center was too far away, and the BMW was very boring. I was looking at ways to get out of my BMW lease and evaluating options, and was considering used Model S's. A friend of mine pointed out the Lucid lease deals, because in my mind, I thought all Lucids were still well over $100k, I had no idea the Pure or Touring even existed. I went to test drive a Touring and was immediately sold and HAD to have it. The driving experience was just so fantastic.

I can’t imagine anyone would drive a Tesla and a Lucid and then buy the Tesla. And Teslas aren’t terrible I have two of them, but it’s just a whole other level of car.
