Storm Chaser & Ham Radio Operator wants a Lucid Air

2023 Air Touring
N1KE
No permanent radio equipment in the car, but portable equipment works just dandy.
It was kinda "meh" for me. Why do 5 watts when you can do 50? I tried it, but the main problem is that I had to use an MFJ antenna mount clip and a rubber duck. It just wasn't worth the inconvenience and inefficiency. Consider using my antenna setup with your HT. The feedline is 13' of RG316 with an SMA.

I would truly wonder if a Lucid Air is the right car for chasing weather. It is not going to ford standing water as your truck appears to. Snorkel or not. And I’d forget about lightening. What about hail bashing the glass and car to a bunch of dents? Sounds like the ideal car would be a well functioning beater.
No kidding! The OP's premise that EV are going to be the only option sooner than later is a bit faulty, but when someone really wants something you can create all sorts of rationalizations.

Link any existing threads here, and we can try to merge them.
I'm not aware of any thread apart from this one. The earlier thread (precursor to this one) that I started in late-Feb has become OBE so it can just sit there untouched. If you can setup the ham radio category that'd be great.

@Joe @hydbob can we make a category? Or should we just rename this thread?

Suggested title pending other opinions. “ Ham Radio Installations”. (The storm chaser aspect isn’t needed in the title.)

I really appreciate you guys doing this. And I’ll monitor it closely to help on queries.
