Software 3.3.20 Update

With all the Dream Editions sold out, how did you get to order your second DE? Did they still have some in inventory?

Either they weren't sold out, or Lucid decided to make some additional ones.

I specifically wanted the 22/23" wheels, and Lucid is not yet selling additional wheels for Gravities, so when my sales advisor said there were some DEs still available, I asked him to filter his search for those wheels.

He found eight DEs available with the largest wheels. If I remember correctly, there were 5 in Studios and 2 factory-gated (meaning through final inspection) but not yet on transports. And if I understood him correctly, I think a couple of others were still in production queue.

I took one of the factory-gated ones in White/Tahoe. I don't know how many additional ones were available with different wheels.

Do they have reserved drive trains to build you another one with the same DE serial?

The Gravity Dream Edition is less a special case than the Air Dream Edition.

The Air Dream used a slightly larger battery pack (118 vs 112 kWh) with cells from a different supplier (Samsung vs LG) than the mainline Airs. It also had a rear motor with special metallurgy that was unique to the Dream Edition. And when Lucid decided almost at the last minute to split the Dream into Range and Performance versions, they put that unique motor on the front axle as well as the rear axle of the Performance versions. Unless that motor also went into the Sapphire, I suspect it's out of production.

As I understand it, the Gravity Dream powertrain differs from the Grand Touring powertrain only in having the larger rear motor of the Grand Touring mounted on both axles, whereas the Grand Touring uses a smaller front motor. So my guess is that replacing the powertrain in a Gravity DE down the road will be a lot easier than with the Air, as it can basically be done with "off the shelf" parts.

Anyone still not get the update yet? My car usually gets updates pretty fast but I haven’t received 3.3.20 yet.

I'm glad the new software is helping others. It hasn't been a huge improvement for me, and I've had at least one very bad experience with it so far.
  • On second drive after installation, my car froze on the splash screen. I sat in the car for 8-10 minutes waiting for something to change, nothing did. The car would not accept the brake-x-mic reboot. I tried multiple times. I figured the car was a brick. Fortunately, 30 minutes later, and I assume a power cycle later, the car mostly performed as normal. I had to use the keycard to enter (because the fob entirely stopped working) and even that took a few tries to work (at that point I was afraid it was bricked and locked) but once it did, and once I reset the fob, everything started working again. I haven't had a recurrence of the problem, but it is slightly unnerving, especially in this cold, to wonder if it will happen again.
  • As noted, the fob stopped working. Battery remove reset seems to have fixed this.
  • I still have mostly the same errors. No reduction at all in the number of high beam assist and sensors blocked errors. Still some instances of lane departure assist and collision detection warnings - these have always gone away after a few minutes. This morning I had a steering system error warning that did NOT go away. I'm wondering if this one is legit or not. We'll find out later when I run out to lunch, I guess.
  • HVAC still acts wonky and blows like crazy until I find the right screens to turn all the fans down (front, rear, defrost). This morning every fan in the car was set to 2 and it still was roaring away. Only turning off the system entirely cleared it.
  • Last night, I received the same Charging system error reported by another user, asking me to unplug and replug the vehicle. This was on my home Level 2 Tesla Wall Connector. This seemed to work to get the car charging again, but this morning I got another Charging system error asking me to contact customer care. The car did charge to 80% as it should have, but the error is concerning. May or may not be related to the new software.
  • I guess some things might be performing better? Seat returns to its programmed location more reliably, I think, but small sample size. Fewer black screens, I think. After the battery reset, I do think the fob seems to be working better? I did get one very brief key not detected error but it resolved within a half-second. I think that's the first time it has ever actually self-resolved and not required the key card for starting.
All these issues have been reported to customer care and the swfeedback emails.

Has any on else got this error past update 3.3.20? It has happened twice now it seems be once my drive is over and I am parking which is odd, but a reset does the trick. Still odd.

Same here, instant access to previous updates, but still waiting for this one.
Tried everything to trigger it from my end, no dice, it is truly being staggered by Lucid to manage potential issues and/or manage customer service capacity to handle incoming calls.

Sadly, my install of 3.3.20 just failed for the second time. It tried for almost 2 hours then failed the first time. I contacted customer care and they said they would have the OTA team put it again, but I never heard anything so after 24 hours I rebooted the car, re-connected to wifi, and about 2 hours later (this morning) it showed up again. I attempted the install, but again after 2 hours it failed and stays on 3.3.9. I didn't see the issue some people posted about it showing them on 3.1.0.
Thank you for sharing. I just sent you a DM.

it seems really random then .. I didnt get 3.3.9 offered for 2 weeks after the release and 3.3.20 showed up on Saturday already for me.

Anyone has an issue with the lucid vibe color? Now it doesnt save the setting and its always this blue, profile loads correctly though.

Called SC and asked to have the update pushed my way, rep said he would make the call and see if I am part of a roll out. Not sure if it made sense to him to say that he’s going to check something we already know the answer to.

I am tempted to leave a rating…Will give it until the end of day to get a response.

No update yet, but I did just pick up my car from service this morning. I do not know if that has anything to do with it.

I'm surprised they didn't do the update as part of the service!

Calling SC got the update expedited, or happened by chance as I was meant to get an email or text to let me know. Either way, update took 40 and installed first try. Now I gotta make time and test drive.

I called yesterday and was told to sit and wait for 2 weeks before they think something is wrong. Up to 2 weeks staggered rollout is considered normal according to SC guy I spoke to.

IIRC people said that's what the Air was like too, staggered over a few weeks.

Man, do you ever have anything positive to say? Lucid is a train wreck! Lucid is ignoring software development! Lucid doesn’t care about its customers! Too little, too late!

Sometimes you just need to take a win.
Positive? Yes I do. Go read all my posts.

But I’m also an investor and stock price in the dumps, some issues were self inflicted by Lucid management and CEO. They need to get their act together.

Giving you the benefit of the doubt - do you think that going online and amplifying negativity with the exact same comment, repeatedly, in every post, and starting a new thread with the same comments helps with the stock valuation? Lucid knows exactly what needs to be done to win the sales of gen pop and remain a viable company. I promise you that your repeated comments are not changing anything other than potentially damaging the reputation and/or annoying everybody on this board. If you sincerely hope for their long term success then give it a rest, give the company some grace and go outside. At least contribute something new.

Lucid obviously has some growth to do in terms of customer service and software. It's steadily improving. Their cars are the most exciting thing on the road and it's not close. Give them some time to figure it out without shouting how they are doomed EVERY SINGLE POST.
