Next December my wife and I plan to spend 10 weeks in Palm Desert.

My wife does not like to drive more than 2-3 hours, so we will be flying there .
.
Can anyone recommend a trusted shipping company to have my AGT shipped from Portland Oregon to Palm Desert California and back again after our return.

I have moved your thread. Hopefully you will get some answers now.

Thank you. I was wondering why I did not receive a reply to my question. Seemed like someone on this board would have had a prior experience with shipping their Lucid.

I'm fairly certain I've never known anyone who has ever shipped any car, especially not for just a vacation.

It might be easier and more cost effective to rent one (Turo?) for the time you're in Palm Springs.

Not for 10 weeks. Wife won't drive the 900 miles to get there.

I didnt ship but i drove it for vacation 😁, FL to MN.

OK, I'll be "that guy." My wife doesn't like to be in the car for long distances, either. My solution is to put her on a plane and drive the car there myself.

I shipped my Tesla model y from Minnesota to Georgia. I put in an AirTag in it. It cost around $1000 in 2023. The shipping person was used to Tesla’s. You can choose open I or covered trailer. I can find their information if it will help. I found them via a shipping site where I made my request and many shippers provided their pricing. Perhaps your wife can fly and you can drive.

There's been a few times my husband drove and I flew to meet him at the location. A one day drive is okay for me, but if it's longer than that, I prefer to fly.

Now I would have to buy a set of winter tires to replace the 21 inch summer tires and then have the 21's put back when the car is driven back. Too much aggravation plus not thrilled driving 1800+ miles roundtrip by myself. If I was 10 years younger than my age of 78( by next winter), no problem. At this point in my life, would rather spend the money than do 6 days of driving all day by myself. In fact if I was 20 yers younger I could do the trip in 2 days each way by myself. LOL

I have a fair amount of experience shipping cars. We live in SC and spend summers in NH. We need to have two cars in each location while we are there, so we have used a combination of professional driving services and auto haulers. We have used shipping brokers in the past, but now use a auto hauling company. There are a lot of pitfalls to this, so you need to be careful with how you choose to do it. For ten weeks, you may be better off leaving the AGT at home and renting in AZ. However if you want to have your car with you in AZ, then obviously you need a shipper. I use a hauler that does a ton of business on the east coast. I'm guessing there are some professional companies that specialize in the west coast, but I have no clue who they might be. If you decide to go the broker route, I STRONGLY suggest you use a disposable email address and a don't give out your phone # because you will be hounded to death for several years. I would suggest you contact your local Lucid resource and ask who they recommend to ship cars, and go with them. They won't be the cheapest, but you will take a lot of the risk out of the equation. DM me if you want to learn more about my experiences.

Thank you. Very informative. I will take your advice and see if Lucid recommends any shippers who will do the route from Portland Oregon to Palm Desert California and back again.

L-Dude's advice is spot on. Auto shipping is a murky business; I've had good experiences and terrible experiences. But rarely a "great" one.

The guy who bought my black AGT had it shipped in an enclosed trailer from DC to Reno with these people: https://www.ztrans.us - they were diligent with the pickup, albeit several hours late (which is pretty much every auto shipment ever). And it arrived in one piece.

When our original Air Dream was wrecked, I found an identical car at a Volvo dealership in New Hampshire. They recommended the carrier they used:

Preowned Auto Logistics
877-542-1955

The cost in early 2023 was $1,900 (in a closed transport, if I remember correctly) to bring the car down to south Florida. Their service was totally satisfactory.

There is a gentleman out of Vancouver, wa who runs a premium transportation service that Lucid Seattle used when I sent my car in for maintenance.

He uses an enclosed trailer and is familiar with securing the vehicle for transport

Barrett Jackson car auctions uses Reliable Carriers, Probably not cheap but likely very good.

Here is what the auction house says:

"Do your research and pick a reputable carrier. Checking with the BBB and/or a quick online search for reviews can be invaluable when it comes to shipping your collector car. One of the most important factors is whether they are fully insured and licensed, and whether they use licensed and insured carriers/third-party services. (Reliable Carriers is an exclusive partner with Barrett-Jackson for good reasons – they have all the right insurance if, on the odd chance, something unforeseen happens during transport.) "

I had my GT shipped from Kansas when I bought it from a Chevy dealer. The dealer recommended these guys for all their out of state shipping: Autofast Transport, Inc: https://www.autofasttransport.com/

I had a great experience with them in having the car shipped to NJ.

Reliable and Intercity have great reputations among high end car clubs.
