Not sure if this is expected behavior but my Lucid Map is always oriented where the car direction is "Up".

I would like to set the map to always oriented North. For example, when the car is driving West, the arrow would point to the left and the map will scroll left as I drive.

It's just preference of course, but it also reduced unwanted map twirling, which is distracting.

I have toggled the "North Up" button/option on the Lucid Map several times but to no avail. The arrow always points up, meaning the map is pinned to the car direction rather than standard coordinate directions.

Is there a way to change this?

I really wish it was part of driver profile settings. My preference is a 2D map as it shows a closer up map. So if Lucid sees what their customers want please have the whole navigation part of profiles.

From the manual:

Touch the icon in the lower right of the map to select from one of five default map viewing modes:
  • Range Map: Shows the approximate range that can be traveled using your current level of charge. See Predicting Energy Usage.
  • 3D Track-Up: Shows a 3D view that tracks your vehicle’s current position and rotates the map to show what is in front of the vehicle.
  • 2D Track-Up: Shows a 2D view that tracks your vehicle’s current position and rotates the map to show what is in front of the vehicle.
  • North-Up: Shows a 2D view where North is always at the top of the map.
  • Route Overview: Shows a 2D view that displays your current route end-to-end and North is always at the top of the map.
NOTE: The Route Overview mode will only appear when a route is selected.
The default map views will be ignored once you start manually interacting with the map. The system will maintain your personal user mode until you select one of the default views listed above.

Thanks @borski.

Mine has always behaved like bullet point #2, regardless of selecting North-Up.

However, I just tried something different that works ...

It's a two step process.
  1. You click 2D or 3D map, then
  2. You click North-Up
If you only click North-Up, without changing the map in step #1, it doesn't behave with North-Up.

So, I was already on 2D, clicked North-Up - no change. Then I clicked 3D map, then 2D THEN North-Up.

It worked, thanks. A very minor inconvenience resolved !

Just a comment: I find the Lucid native map to be not as helpful as my previous experience with other vehicles, and I have the same experience with having to set the North up feature every time I get in the car.
I have a related question, but it's regarding Apple Map in Car Play. When I open the map, it shows almost the entire US landmass and then some ... and only zooms down to my local street level scale when I ask Siri for directions. In other words, when it is not giving directions, having the Apple Map is pretty useless as a local streets reference. Am I doing anything wrong, or is this normal? (I apologize in case I veered off topic.)

I've never seen that before and I use Apple Maps via CarPlay regularly. Not sure what to tell you there. I assume it doesn't do that when you open Apple Maps on your phone outside of the car? Maybe try your phone with CarPlay in a different car?

Can you take a screenshot? If you do so on your phone, it will also save a screenshot of whatever is on the CarPlay display.

If you have the camera selected to "dynamic" mode which should automatically zoom, but it isn't, if you toggle through all of the camera modes through "top down", "north up" and then back to "dynamic", the auto zoom function appears to work correctly again. It's happened to me a couple times before.

Thanks for responding. I have used CarPlay before, in my X5, and didn't have this issue. I am new to the Lucid, so it seems I have to tinker with all the settings and hopefully learn a few things in the process.

Thanks for responding. I will follow your suggestions when I get in the car next time, and hopefully be able to resolve my issues. Will post an update next.

I always select 2D Track up. Map reverts to Northup. It does not maintain my personal user 2D Track Up Mode .
