AFTER THE 2.8.16 UPDATE MY REGEN HAS CHANGED FOR THE WORSE AND I NEARLY REAR ENDED SOMEONE TODAY IN RAIN COS YOU HAVE TOLD MY BRAIN OVER THE LAST 2 YEARS THAT MY CAR WILL STOP IN X FEET....DO NOT ... DO NOT MESS WITH THE REGEN TO NOW NEED X+0.5X DISTANCE COS I NEARLY READ ENDED SOMEONE TODAY. IF I END UP IN A CRASH COS OF THIS, I WILL CALL MY LAWYERS. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE - FIX IT AND STOP MUCKING AROUND WITH REGEN!!!!

No. That was me screaming. Keyboard's fine. I was literally 6 inches away when I stopped from the car ahead of me ...thus the caps.
 
Maybe they want to follow China who bans the default setting of one-pedal driving (aggressive regen braking that brings the car to a complete stop without touching the brake pedal) starting in 2027 (driver will have to manually select one-pedal driving for each drive because the default setting will be prohibited.)

On the other hand, I love one-pedal driving.

I bought Lucid because it has more regen than Tesla does.
 
This goes back to the issue that we have discussed here ad nauseam and that is lack of release documentation with each release. If Lucid is making a change to regen then they should at a minimum state that in the product release notes so people are aware. If this was done to extend the battery life then what is wrong with stating this as such. This robustness tag is getting old and they really need to put some details around these releases. I really believe they have made an outstanding product here and it is these little things (and the doors not opening as expected) that annoy some of us here.

And to the OP .. a friendly advice to not let this bother you so much. Our brain can be retrained fairly quickly and there is no reason to get so worked up about this change. :)

Mmm, my regen feels fine after update, or maybe I didn’t realize the change. Lucid should at least tell us if they changed anything. Now that you realized it’s less, and posted about it, you can’t sue even if you rearend someone since you know it’s less.
 
I really like the new regen settings. Way better efficiency for me.

I usually do not get this worked up and have rolled with Lucid for the last 3 years across all the software updates right from v1.0. This time I wanted to catch Lucid's attention because...this was during school pickup time...there were kids around...car in front of me had kids...I had a kid in my car and a dog...this event raised my BP up way more than anything in my recent memory so I wanted this to catch attention...
 
Each of the last few days when I leave our garage the regen does not work at all or very lightly & I always have it on standard (middle setting). It does seem to come to life after I drive a few miles but is quite upsetting & is totally untrustworthy. This never happened for 1 ½ years until the latest 2.8.16 OTA update.

Not telling a driver that vehicle driving dynamics have changed overnight with a new update is not only annoying, it is also outright dangerous. Lucid, I know you are reading this. The company is facing a legal liability for not giving its customers more knowledge of vehicle changes and bug fixes with updates. I suggest you consult with your in-house counsel about your lack of transparency with updates.

Remember, regen is more and more limited the more your battery drops under even 65ºF. Look at the regen capacity indicator on the left side of your Charge/Power dial.

Yes I still think the safest way to handle this is by seamlessly blending in friction braking, but few if any EVs do that well and I don't think anything (except the world around you) has actually changed? As long as we don't have blended braking, you must be ready to use the friction brake at any time. Loss of traction also temporarily disables regen (so that it doesn't fight with ABS). High charge percentage limits regen too. For now, it is on you to either be prepared for those edge cases or disable regen.
 
The change in my regen happened with the 2.8.9 OTA. I haven't noticed any change with 2.9.16.
 
I wonder if the Lucid engineers working on the updates are reading the many posts on this and other sites and laughing their asses off.

"Regen has changed with the update" "regen hasn't changed" "My miles per kwh is much less now" "My car is much more efficient now". "The smooth setting is less smooth" "The smooth setting is more smooth"

Obviously, this could easily be resolved with some more "robustness" in the description of the OTAs.
 
I didn't notice any regen as well. I have completed 1000 miles trip in Rain, snow, and sleet
 
No regen changes here, other than the weather. 🤷‍♂️
