2024 Lucid Air Touring
Hey folks,

I searched up some threads on windshield repairs but couldn't find the exact answer. Will Lucid allow third party repair shops to repair/replace a windshield crack from a rock chip or do I have to take it in to an authorized repair shop? I also have a lease with the metal roof so the windshield is not super unique but I still think Lucid would want OEM parts.

They will not (or wouldn't) supply an OEM windshield to an unauthorized third party installer (may be in MA where there is a strong right to repair law).

As far as repair I guess it depends on how well the repair is done.

It’s worth a shot to repair it. What’s the worst that could happen - the crack still extends and you have to replace the windshield??!!

Repair? Sure. Replace? Maybe if you have a metal roof. But, if you have a glass roof, good luck getting the right shaped piece of glass from someone other than Lucid or an authorized shop.

The windshield installer that fixed a couple rock chips for me did look up Lucid Air in their ordering catalog and found it. It seems like they get OEM glass but I wouldn’t swear to it…

Thanks for the info folks, we got it on our way to camping and by next day, the chip already had 3 cracks that are pretty long (over a foot each). I saw Safelite only repairs cracks < 10 inches so I will contact Lucid to inquire about a full windshield replacement.

Hmm, I see Safelite actually gave me a quote to replace the Lucid windshield, has anyone ever tried that or should I just stick with the Lucid shop. The Safelite quote as around 1060.

Does windshield replacement on the Air mean you need to recalibrate sensors/cameras/etc?

My understanding is that you can get it replaced somewhere like Safelite, but then it has to go to a Lucid service center for sensor calibration afterwards.
