First, I am not asking people to offer a referral code. In fact, if someone tries to proactively suggest that I use theirs it's a sure guarantee that I will not. I'm not sure if it is a forum rule, but there is a good reason that people put their code passively in their profile. I've been on other forums where "Here's my code!" cut and paste posts were 10% of the traffic at times.
In terms of personal referrals, while I do know exactly one Lucid owner, I'm not interested in approaching them. When that person bought their [manufacturer redacted by me] 8 years ago they asked me a ton of questions and then just grabbed a referral from a coworker who had no more skin in the game than "Oh, I heard you're ordering one, here is my code". So, *harumph!* No soup for you/that person! (Just kidding, not really serious and it's a personal friend who I just never talk to much, but I'm more concerned with honoring someone who helped me in this particular process.)
Having said that, I'm wondering how I can figure out who I'd want to grab a referral code from and I'd like to use my experience on this forum to guide that decision. My first thought was to look at who responded to my few posts most helpfully, but there is no search widget that I can find to try to figure that out. Is there a way to search this information that I'm missing? I can look at the most recent people who liked my posts, but that's not as much help as providing information. I don't really value forum reputation points.
My second thought would be to just use one of the regular posters that I have warm/fuzzies about, and while that does keep the brownie points in the most helpful of the family, I don't want to overlook someone who doesn't post much but was very helpful to me personally despite a lack of constant presence. My memory is bad enough that I may have forgotten such positive interactions because ... SQUIRREL! (And maybe I'm wildly off on this, but I'm guessing that there are 1 or 2 frequent posters that may have a billion and a half referral points? Or is that not how any of this works?)
It would be nice if there was a "thanks" reaction that you could click on and the forum would remember the list of your top personal thankees.
How did others go about figuring out who they wanted to bless with a referral when they bought their Lucid without any friends that own one?
