If memory serves, there was a software update in the past few months which increased the accuracy of the 'range upon arrival' figure, taking into account driver habits.
I was skeptical of the feature, but I'll be damned if it wasn't close enough to bang on during a combined 1400 miles of driving over the past few weeks. It was within 5 miles, door to door, on a 340 mile round trip. It was awesome to wake up one morning, and despite not having charged overnight, the 'range upon arrival' for our trip home had increased by 30 miles due to higher ambient temps compared to the previous day.
I didn't see tremendous accuracy when the feature was first released (and was told by Customer Care it would use past history, so it should've been highly accurate right out of the gate), but almost without question, it's improved since then. My guess is that the 'driver history' was starting from scratch with the new feature? Whatever the case, the upshot is that I am feeling more and more comfortable taking long trips that push into single digit percentages of remaining battery because the 'range at destination' figure is working so well. Bravo!
I wanted to share this in case there are people reading the forum who are dealing with range anxiety issues. I find myself less and less concerned about taking trips as my confidence builds in the accuracy of the available tools.
