PIN to drive stuck on after service

Talked to service today. They’ve now seen other cars start doing this since the last update. Air tourings asking for PINs that never set them, they don’t know why. I hinted it might be their awful software 😂
I am not surprised! My 2022 AGT is all up to date with SW updates. Over the past 3-1/2 of ownership, I've experienced multiple episodes of the car asking for PIN. After a while, it goes away, but the PIN request comes back periodically, no rhythm or reason. Lousy SW is probably the cause. This bug is "harmless" (I think), just annoying! But it begs the question about the thoroughness of Lucid's SW/HW validation when they change things.

Perhaps unrelated to your issue, but I've had it happen a few times since the last update. After waiting 15-30 seconds, I have been able to X out of the pin request and the car recognizes PaaK. Really bizarre that it happens after the car recognizes PaaK to open the doors. It feels like a BT latency issue being introduced during the wake up sequence, but it doesn't happen often either.

I've also encountered the bizarre situation of opening the rear door to load a bag in the rear seat and once the rear door closes the car locks leaving you standing in a parking lot trying to open the app to wake the car that was just awake. Feels somewhat related.

Amateur vibe coders or something who knows. I do believe they’re doing their best, but their best is bad. Wonder when the next update is?

Yeah, the PIN request is "annoying" but otherwise benign (I think). Having been in the business of HW/SW/FW development, validation, and releases and made unintentional errors, it sends chills up my spine....I am paranoid about unintended SW/HW/FW errors and wonder what could possibly go wrong! Like most biological viruses, they are benign. But you only need one bad one to really ruin your day@!

At this point they don’t know and are shipping it back to California. The service manager explained to me he witnessed the test and I believe him. I’m in a weird place where Lucid legal has put everything squarely as service incompetence, but Service disagrees. So I’m in the middle and don’t know.
Can’t you pursue breach of contract or negligence lawsuit against Lucid Service for this?? Something?

ha, well, I had a mediation after 105 days in service, but it was done in a wierd way and denied (see other thread, Lucid has a different corporation that does the service so its makes lemon law hard to get). But now, Lucid service has requested ANOTHER buy back, so I actually have no idea what is going on. I'm sure they're sick of this car too, its a huge waste of everyone's time.

Lemon Law is supposed to be the consumer protection against negligence but...Lucid has an attorney that fights you all they way. They'll fight you tooth and nail. Guess I'll see how it goes.

Annoying can turn into locked with kid in the car, or can’t get to work, or can’t get to school, yeah sorry but being unable to get into or move the car as expected is more than annoying.

Lucid is not a serious company.

Up until very recently, Lucid disallowed all use of AI other than copilot (which is basically “no use of AI”)

But humans make mistakes plenty.

Having seen other buybacks, yours appears uniquely bad. You and @hmp10 should never get together or entire cities might start walking into the ocean.

I experienced this issue quite regularly prior to the 2.8.30 update. Never got a meaningful response from Lucid about it and I didn't press the issue since the update seems to have resolved it for me.

My theory is the car is failing to authenticate against your chosen device (be it the FOB or mobile device) in a timely manner, so by the time you've depressed the brake to indicate you're intent to change gear, the car has to fall back to the PIN to confirm you're authorized to drive away.

Surprised there are folks who haven't set a PIN. That was part of the delivery process for me. I'd rather have it and not need it than... etc
