Phantom auto brake on slow backing up

Only since the last update: Slowly backing up toward garage door (metal) the car will slam on the brakes with phantom warning "brake now".
Not in close proximity to door, no proximity alert, just says to brake and jerks to a stop. Can continue on with accelerator but 50/50 chance it will happen again.
At 1 MPH does not happen. Never happened any other situation.

Service manager dropped my car off and picked up loaner Gravity Touring after seat recall fix.
The loaner did THE SAME THING!

He asked if there is some other transmitter in the garage. Two internet routers but nothing else.
Maybe metal door is reflecting some backup sensor?

What the what?!?
 
Its not a transmitter its camera based. My Air sees my garage threshold as a wall because its big and grey I guess, so it slams on the brakes and won't back out of the garage. You can turn it off. My BMW will back out just fine, it knows its not a wall...EXCEPT for when the sun is going down, my BMW thinks a tree branch shadow is an orphan or something, then won't back out either.

Our Tesla will run over anything...but I wouldn't say that's better!
 
Mine has done that from time to time on different things. It sees lines in the street and misidentifies them as an obstacle. I’ve had it surprise me on occasion and I just ended up turning off the actions and just let it alarm me when it thinks there is a hazard. It’s right most of the time but those times when it’s not is crazy…
 
I've had the same issue many times. I turn it off but then it's on again next time I get in the car. Not 100% sure what causes it, but as some of you said it's the camera picking up a reflection or the borders between the street and the driveway
 
Happens to me when I'm backing out of my steep driveway.
Braking alert occurs when the street is sensed as an obstacle.
I allow the braking and then proceed on.
No additional alert until next time.

I understand what's happening and why.
Not a problem for me.
 
My AGT does this backing out of the garage it I exceed a certain speed.

My Air does this when the sun shines through our fence. We’re on a hill, so the shadows the light draws look like people, I guess.

It’s very annoying, but I’ve learned to just go slower.
 
Thanks guys. Always good to know other folks are having similar issues.
Probably AI making a mistake.
As an aside, I heard a lecture from a Duke professor and AI expert this morning.
She started with a result of multiple AI's being queried about the Declaration of Independence as to whether it was created by AI or not.
Several responded that there was a 98% chance it was created by AI.
So my little mistake is nothing compared to that.
 
Have the same issue with brake slamming in reverse. My question is why Halo doesn't record it. If I slam the breaks it records.
 
Had the same issue and after some investigation, backing out of the driveway a different times of the day. It turns out to be shadows issues. On a bright sunny day when the shadows in rear camera view, I will guarantee to have a phantom eStop. But on over cast days where all the shadows are really diffused, this does not happen. So in short, the vehicle is scaring itself on sunny days, hopefully this can be corrected via OTA.

Yeah this is my experience in my driveway too. It never happens anywhere else for me.
 
I experience the same - unnecessary auto braking in reverse. I have 1PD enabled.

Any time I hear the alert and before the auto brake engages, I let my foot off the gas pedal to slow down and the resulting braking action seems to humor the system enough to prevent the auto braking event from occurring.

Yes, that's what it is. I mostly avoid it by going very slowly in the places where it normally happens
