Good evening, all!
Mario here with Ironclad Paint Protection & Coatings in West Palm Beach, FL
We have been in the Paint Protection industry for well over a decade.
I wanted to start bringing some knowledge and experience of these wonderful cars to
you all in the aspect of Paint Protection. This will not be a "mine is better than yours" but
simply to provide insight to certain expectations you should have when you select an installer
to provide paint protection on your vehicle.
Over the course of a few months, we have had the privilege of working on about a dozen LUCID AIR in south Florida receiving
Paint Correction - Paint Protection Film - Ceramic Coatings - Window Tint - Color Change / Chrome Delete
I wanted to share with you some inside knowledge to help you understand what to look for when you are having your paint protection done.
Every installer is different and generally what you are looking for is complete coverage.
what do I mean by that?
Many installers in the country do what we call "Precut" as installers we input the vehicle into our system and our specialized plotters cut the film we need with near perfect precision.
Every installer should have some type of precut system in their arsenal however there are situations like the LUCID Air where it's still ok but generally you are looking for more of a custom/total coverage look not be the case.
for example, you can see this is a Precut template from a reputable company. It is ok but as you can see there is some coverage issues at play.
Last thing you want is to have a seam of this size exposed to the Vehicle's paint or worse have some potential buildup in the future.
Here is an example of a hood We have completed on a LUCID.
You will notice a few things.
1) FULL COVERAGE - There are vents and edges of the film that are totally Wrapped.
That means where we are able to provide a full custom installation on this hood to provide total coverage
2) There are many great films out there and this part is very critical.
THERE IS A SAYING THAT THE BEST FILM IS THE FILM YOUR INSTALLER IS MOST COMFORTABLE WITH.
THIS HOOD IS VERY LARGE. It's not for the faint of heart or inexperienced installers.
Be sure that your installer is trained, certified and comfortable with the film they use and make sure they have the ability to show you work.
Many good installers are so proud of their work they will be more than happy to show you, their work.
3) Removing trim makes the world of difference for longevity and protection.
Some installers do not like to remove trim and that's fine there no problem with it at all. We personally like to remove trim within reason. It allows us to make sure our edges are tucked and the chance of any kind of lifting are greatly reduced.
Thank you for your time! Hopefully this helped some with clarity and answer a few questions. We are here to provide knowledge to the LUCID community!
If you have any more questions, please feel free to contact us!
