- 2023 Lucid Air Touring
I bought a 2023 Lucid Air Touring on 4/29. I live in Alabama, and bought the vehicle from a used car dealer in Jacksonville, FL. It was about 470 miles away. They had 98 pictures and quality video of the vehicle on their website. The car looked to be in excellent condition, with 27k miles on it. I asked several times, if they could send any pictures of damage, before i pulled the trigger. They assured me the car was clean. So, I buy it. It was exactly what i was looking for. We agreed on shipping the vehicle, and I paid for that separately. This was around the time when gas prices exploded, and they couldn't find anyone to accept the load, for the rate I had already paid. So, I had them refund my shipping costs, and I flew down to get the car. When I got there the car looked just like the pictures. There was knick in the windshield, which is kinda a big deal, because it has the glass canopy. I knew I could get that fixed, so I wasn't too worried. There was also a "Drive System Warning" on. I called Lucid, and they said there weren't any faults showing, but I needed to transfer ownership before they could do anything. I send them all the documentation, and since the car drove fine, I start out on my journey home. I make it home, the car is driving fine. I'm loving every minute of it. After a few calls back to customer care, I finally get the ownership transferred. It took about a week. Once I did that I reset everything in the car, because the previous owner's profile was still attached. The "Drive System Warning" went away at this point. The next day Lucid calls and says my battery may be out out balance, and they want to bring the car in. I was a little bummed, but figured it would be good to go in to service, since i just got it, and they could give it a once over. Tow company picks the car up a few days later. I think I drove it for 10 days. The have the car for 2 weeks, with very minimal contact from them. The car was towed in on a Tuesday, and I didn't hear from anyone until Saturday, and that was after several calls to the service center, and finally calling customer care. They said the tow company had just dropped the car, without leaving the key, and they didn't realize it was there for a few days. The battery ends up balancing fine. They do a couple of recalls on a seat bracket or something, and an update on the BMS. I don't hear anything until the following Saturday. They call telling me everything they had done, and I should be getting the car back in a couple of days. I get the car back the following Tuesday morning, about 9am. As I'm leaving Enterprise after dropping the rental off, I get a "Reduced Power Warning". I call Lucid Customer Care, and of course they say, we'll have to come back and get it. They've had the car for about 10 days, and I get a call this past Friday letting me know that they are going to replace the rear drive unit. It will take 5 days for the unit to ship from AZ, so that's another week without my car. I am grateful that all of these issues are being discovered now, while the car is still under warranty. I'm also grateful to have a ride, while its in service, although I wish it were at least another EV, considering how high gas is. At this point Lucid has had the car longer than I have. I'm hoping I get the car back next week, and this will be the last of my service visits for a while. I forgot to mention, I'm about 3 hours away from the nearest service center. I really enjoyed the car on my 470 mile drive home, and the few days I did get to drive it. I'm hoping my Lucid ownership days will end much better than they have started...
