Out of Spec may be giving a rundown on Gravity vs Escalade:

The Gravity looks tiny compared to the Escalade

There's a "huge" difference in design philosophy, and maybe target demographic.

I guess it has to be huge to hold that big ass 200kW battery also 😂

I feel bad for people who will buy Escalade IQ and the nightmare of charging at L2. At 40A, it will take forever to charge this thing. Better have a second vehicle on hand 😂

Forget that! The cost to even charge the thing at home will be ridiculous also!

I feel bad for our PLANET that people will buy that wasteful behemoth.

The Gravity appears to be set to its lowest ride height setting. The additional 4-inch rise would make a significant difference, especially when compared to that massive ride.

However, that wouldn’t necessarily create such a stark contrast for a social media post either.
Plus the gravity isnt sitting on the skateboard platform like the Escalade. A lot of the height is unusable since its just battery pack in the Escalade.

As they say, a picture is worth a thousand words. This set of pictures captures in a nutshell everything that has gone wrong with legacy automakers.

Personally, I would consider it but I don't think the price is worth what you get. Although my Gravity configuration is around $120k, I feel like it is worth it. There is real value there.

And I am not sure it will fit in my garage. The Denali pickup truck won't. We used to have a Ford Expedition, and that fit. Man, those GM EVs are huge.

Well, it’s advertised as having a 200kWh battery pack and 460 miles of range. So, at best, it’s 2.3 m/kWh. Which is shockingly bad to begin with. And probably totally unattainable for *normal* driving. So, to me, it’s not that shocking to see 0.7 while they test it I guess.

The thing is, people who are looking to buy an electric SUV will point to this and say “but the Escalade gets more range than the Lucid! It’s a better buy!” Not understanding that the “fuel tank” is nearly double the size and more expensive to “fill.”

I know I’m explaining to folks who understand this. I just am reflecting on the sentiment of @hmp10 ‘s post above about destroying good things I guess 🫤

I sent these pictures to a friend who joked back that at least you get more car for the money with the Escalade. This reminded me of a boss I had at the start of my career. I was chiding him about the tank of a Cadillac sedan he drove, and he proudly announced that it weighed so much more than the cars to which I was comparing it. I couldn't resist asking whether he really bought cars by the pound. (Thank God, he had a sense of humor.)

Anyhoo, I decided to check. The Escalade costs more on a pound-per-dollar basis than the Gravity: $15.28 vs. $14.38. So no bargain, even on that basis.
