Out of Spec 3 Row EV race - Lucid Gravity driven by Kyle

FYI I am at 2.6, driving very unaggressively and generally the speed limits. DE 7 seat mid wheels. Granted I'm at less than 2K miles but I wouldn't say he's a huge outlier.

I think when you reference your numbers you need to be more careful as your data is a huge outlier. I don’t know re: gravity but I get the rated range in my Air when I drive how it was tested, which is in compliance with the law.

If you look closer at my messages, I do reference my inefficient custom setup quite often. I am also looking at data from other people and their efficiency isn’t very far from mine.

Regardless, I am not here to mislead. I will see if I can add a signature to my messages that would reference the custom part of my setup.

:) Thanks! I hope it's an entertaining video! obviously I know what happened, but you don't know what things were captured in a all cars, and what will make the edit!... but I'm excited to watch it TOO

I am that cynical, but not in this case. Kyle uploads almost everything he films--he's not always right, but in watching waaaaaay too many hours of OOS content, I've never seen anything from him that was intentionally misleading or that would suggest rigging was in his character. If the Gravity wins or loses, it won't be due to manipulation.
 
This isn't the only place on the forums I could post this, but I'm a little surprised how many people are still holding out hope for evidence of incredible efficiency numbers from Gravity, seemingly even from people who already have one. I'm only 1400 miles in on my Gravity, so not past the 2000 mile mark yet that will supposedly help efficiency (though viewers of Notch's channel will know that it was a negligible difference for him), but I have a middle of the road trim--7 seater with 21/22s. Unfortunately, Lucid just oversold the Gravity's efficiency. I came from an ICE car (after waiting years for an EV that was large enough and could go far enough to justify the switch), so I probably wouldn't have waited for it and purchased it if they had followed Porsche's ethos and presented an EPA range that you could rely on in a wide variety of conditions, so in a way I'm glad they oversold it, because I do love the car and don't regret the purchase. But just to set everyone's expectations, with a full car (2 adults, 2 kids, luggage for a weekend, and a dog), I drove 230 miles last night (temps at 60F-63F), driving 77-81 for the first half of the drive, then driving 82-83 for the second half of the drive. First half I got 2.4 miles per kWh. Second half I got 2.2 miles per kWh. For a short section in the middle I drove 85, during which I consistently got just under 2 miles per kWh, which is why I knocked it down to 82. All of which is to say, it's not like it's particularly bad on efficiency for a very spacious 3 row vehicle and would probably show fairly well in a chart that measured efficiency per cubic foot of storage or something like that. But also, it gets about the same efficiency as my ID Buzz, so just based on my experience, it's still relying on the battery size and charging to be competitive on range, not its efficiency.

Can you at least tell us if with the two Gravitys, did one of you stick To Tesla SC and the other to CCS stations? That would be very interesting and informative! Well, at least for us in here.


And I'm sure yall did GPS routing challenge for return trip, which should be interesting for us in here as well as some have reported mixed experiences with the native nav (mine have been consistently good). No need to comment before the video on this or the other question if you cannot/should not yet. Just appreciate your videos and you participating in this challenge with them!

hahah, I will not say anything... I would like to be invited to more things in the future! SO I wont ruin my chances letting secrets slip!

This race was right before Thanksgiving, so many of us had to rush out fast... I had to turn around and drive back to NYC the next morning (which was a hard pill to swallow lol).. so i know for a fact i was not recording a gps race back.. but maybe all the other cars did??? Im not actually sure whats going on post race content.
 
I’ve only had my GGT (seats, smallest tires) for 4 days so far, driven a little more than 200 miles so far.
I’ve been doing daily driving in the Bay Area, mostly freeway during rush hours. Have not done any launches (no time to play yet).
I’m getting 3.28 mi/kWh.

my original post is missing the seat number. I meant to say 7 seats.
Honestly I’m a bit surprised (in a good way) based on what others have reported. On freeway, I mostly use DDP and set max speed to 75. But most of my drive is between 50-70 mph due to traffic.
In the Bay Area, it’s been cooling down, so ~55-65F over the past few days.
 
As mentioned before, it’s all about speed and temperature. My NH round trip I got 94% of EPA for Gravity DE on 20 inch wheels cuz it was 65F. 3.27 mi/kwh. Meanwhile one way to Pennsylvania with 6 passengers and a loaded car and I got 3.03 mi/kwh in 45F temps. Speed was about 70mph in both those cases with traffic slow downs and other sections of 80mph. There is literally nothing wrong with Gravity efficiency and if you were to drive 70mph on a relatively flat route at 75-80F outside I’m 100% confident you’d hit EPA.

Thanks for your videos by the way, you helped me learn that 3.3.9 somehow magically fixed my keycards not working even though that’s not what the update was for. And now I put my Uniden R8 where yours is and EZ pass in the left A pillar window because I was getting a crazy number of false radar alerts due to the mirror sensors triggering it right in the same Ka 33-34 band cops use.
