NYC VIP event prep

Also, the Air hasn’t been abandoned. I heard multiple times last night that the Air will continue to receive software updates, with features carrying over from what’s in Gravity.

I was surprised when I saw the UI demos. I first thought, “No way will the Air ever see anything like this,” but I was quickly told it will in some way or another, which was nice to hear.

LOL. It was horrible and everyone should cancel their orders now! 😂

I had alluded to it elsewhere, but it’s truly fantastic. The interior is incredibly quiet, and the air suspension makes for an exceptionally smooth ride on the very worn down NYC roads. The car feels spacious and comfortable, UX3.0 is a significant upgrade, and I believe the demos for the UX will impress many people.

I love the Air, but if I had to describe the Gravity in a few words, it’s simply “more polished.” I think Lucid is going to have a hit on its hands .
Was the green or black one the one with the hud?

The green one but it wasn’t either of the ones in the store. They had another green one outside doing the demo drive

Are you going back because of the Gravity’s or the cookies? Haha
I'm going back with the stroller to test the frunk ;-)

Nobody ever believes me when I say things lol <3

Some of the things I have over heard, add salt as necessary:

1. Gravity weight under - 6,000# - nobody has a vehicle that light with a 120kw battery so that would be amazing
2. Dream uses different batteries from GT. Who knows?
3. Staggered wheels do matter and not just for looks, so going from 21/22 to 22/22 might be a bad idea from a balance perspective as the front end is meant to be riding softer
4. Dream uses the same brakes as GT
5. Confirmed bolt pattern on wheels at 5x120
6. More orders/interest received than expected - no such thing as too much me thinks

1. I read somewhere (can't remember, dammit) that the GGT curb weight is 5,919 (or 5,967?) pounds. (Add a pinch of salt to this, too.)

2. The Gravity will use Panasonic batteries with new chemistry. Prior Airs used Samsung and LD Chem batteries (although Panasonics may be making their way into newer Airs).

Take some pictures of HUD for us 🙂 or a nice video for us who cannot make it to NYC
Could not get pics of that. I will post some photos later. I did learn the following…Lucid is sending 3 Gravities to each studio (one for display and two for test drives) and 15 out for reviews.

Dave Connor was there doing videos for OOS Bits. I was interview…not sure if I will end up in the final piece.

Overall vibe was incredibly positive and the Gravity itself is truly next level. Everyone here seemed to be VERY excited!

Thanks for the heads up! Now to go look at OoS Podca…er, Bits!

I wonder how long these “bits” are, as they come from OOS? Maybe approximately 45.98 hours per episode, based on the length of their Youtube videos?
There has been an interesting change to that out of spec channel (formally named OoS Podcast). They are posting a variety of content with, sometimes multiple videos per day which is a change from the about one per weekday previously.

The length seems to go between 10-15 mins for 2/3rds of the “bits” to 20-35 mins for the remaining 1/3rd. For example when the OoS Cybertruck broke recently, Kyle did a 12 min “here is what happened” video. Yes @hmp10, they do exist! 😉 (shorter OoS videos)

Changing subjects slightly back to the thread subject:
@Blue Lectroid did you see if Dave recorded much of how people fit in and functionality of the Gravity, or was he mostly doing interviews?
Random but amusing: When I relayed it was reported that OoS Dave was there, my wife’s response was “Oh, the talker?”. 😆

And did anyone try to see if they could fit a full load of people in out of curiosity? I ask thinking of the Lucid presentation a ways back with a full car load of people and luggage.

Supposedly Dave shot a feature review first thing in the morning in the studio BEFORE guests arrived.

I saw many times where there were seven people packed into the Gravity. I sat in all seating positions myself and although I am small (5’6” and 125 pounds), there was soooo much room even in the third row, that I have zero doubt that 7 adults fit in this thing comfortably!!

The ONLY thing that was less than a 10 out of 10 for me on the whole vehicle? Its size. Sure, it’s a lot smaller than an Escalade and many other seven seaters, but it ain’t at all small. This is a large vehicle even with Lucid’s remarkable packaging.

On a side note, I actually loved the way the Gravity looked with the small wheel option. I was worried about that. If anyone is on the fence about that, the chrome wrapped Gravity that was outside had the standard 20” wheels and they looked fabulous. I actually personally prefer them to the largest wheel set…

It only *feels* that way until you drive it.
The Air’s length is 195.9”. Gravity is 198.2”, for a grand difference of… 2.3”.

Width of the Air is 86.4” with mirrors; Gravity is 87.2”, so 0.8” difference. It’s a 2.5” difference without mirrors (on both).

It is 10 inches taller though. :)

What’s even more amazing to me is it *turns* like it’s the smaller car; due to the RWS, it’s turning radius is a foot *shorter* than the Air.

To me; the Air feels like the bigger car if I don’t look behind me. I love both, but the Gravity is not actually particularly big. It’s the same size as a midsize, just like the Air. It just *feels* bigger because of all the space.

There is a point at which certain things become inevitable. And I think Lucid reached that point with the Gravity. A vehicle that will seat seven adults comfortably and carry large cargo loads is going to have a limit beyond which it cannot be shrunk. I think Lucid reached that limit more adeptly than any other carmaker.

It's a different manifestation of the point Derek Jenkins made in the SUV/minivan debate: to get the desired passenger and cargo room in an aerodynamically-efficient design is going to take you places you simply cannot avoid.

The only way the Gravity could get smaller would be to start shaving away its passenger and cargo capacity . . . and that is exactly what the Earth will do in the next 2 or 3 years for those whom a smaller exterior is a key criterion.
