New high performance gravity being revealed this month.Plus the cosmos info

I think it’s a great option to throw in the mix of Gravity trims. Although, I was hoping for the Sapphire blue exterior paint. Hopefully Lucid will release a true sapphire version after Cosmos is out to the masses.

Please correct me if I am wrong, but the only thing mechanical that a DE has over a fully loaded GGT is the front motor.

I think they're just swapping out the front motor with the higher power rear motor?

I just don't see how anyone can have a problem with a decision that provides more choice to the customer and no new engineering or software needed by the company. I hope they make a boat load of money on the re-badged DE. I've already configured by next DE-equivalent!

YeeHa!!!!

Apparently it has slightly slow charging than the GT/DE. It says 200 miles of range in 14 mins vs 11 mins on the GT/DE and 15 mins for the Touring.

If it had been available before I would have gone with it, the only reason we didn't get the DE was that we didn't want a 7 seater. This would have been perfect.

The car looks great! I really like the blue calipers; I do wonder whether this means we won't get a Sapphire, though. I also wonder why they didn't choose to use the GT-P moniker!

Well, I’m relieved I don’t have to upgrade my Dream Edition for this. I’m not against this GT-S, but I think they’d sell more Gravity X if they could keep the price reasonable. I have many friends who are very athletic and outdoorsy (mountain biking, camping, surfing, etc). They would love the Gravity X, but are going to choose a Rivian instead when they move on from their Tesla.

I think it charges the same, just less efficiency so to gain the same number of miles takes more kWh to be added to the battery.

Now that I think about it I don't know if it's physically possible to fit two motors to the rear. The rear-wheel steering is separate actuators to operate each wheel, so that might into the width you get between the wheels. Then Lucid does their usual space optimization to get as much interior room as possible. I'm not sure how much room would be left once all that is implemented.

Then again, I haven't seen a Gravity up on a hoist, so I have no clue how the rear packaging is like

Elaborating on this. Remember the baseline for the DE and GT Gravity is 450 standard advertised based on 20/21 inch wheels & tires. So the efficiency per kwh of the battery used or range recovered from charging is calculated based off that 450 miles of range efficiency of 20/21 inch all season tires.

With the GT-S Lucid advertises the projected range as 373 mi on their configurator no matter the tire / wheel option and or number of rows. Thus it would take 14 minutes to add back 200 miles of range based off of the 373 standard mile range from the efficiency per kwh of those wheels and tires on the GT-S trim.

Wouldn't really make sense for me. It has the one thing I don't want (HUD) and by the time it's configured with the stuff I would want, it's at $138k vs $124k for the GT configured how I'd want.

Not sure I could justify $14k for a few accents and barely faster 0-60 time.
You will make some back in resale value. So actually, a good deal if you want to brag!

The Gravity X is what even put Lucid on the map for me! I would have LOVED one. Then I realized it wasn’t coming anytime soon (or ever), so I settled for a DE, but yeah, an X would have been very popular in my social circle.

X won’t lead to that many more sales. Suppliers will charge a lot for limited production. And right now, they need to cut costs. Sensible not to do Gravity X right now because it will complicate supply chain and production.

ok so its a DE with blue accents for less money? Not sure they'll sell a bunch but they will sell more than zero and the cost to make it can't be much more with just a few cosmetic changes and they might get more margin out of it.
Not much less money -- if you configure it like a DE, it's $137,800. The only difference is that you can't get it in Aurora Green (I guess that's the one combination that's exclusive to the DE -- Green AND 1070 HP), and it doesn't have a numbered sill plate.

If I cared enough, I'd be vaguely annoyed because this definitely devalues the Dream Edition. This wasn't done with the Air DEs; they are actual limited editions and the prestige offering (Sapphire) is way more expensive. It's a little insulting to early buyers, but we also got ours 18 months before these will ever ship.

I appreciate this is a low technical lift, and yes, always good to have more options for customers.

But i don’t think this announcement will sway WHETHER someone buys a Gravity. (net new sales).

Rather, it might sway WHICH Gravity someone might buy, after they’ve already decided they want to buy one. It seems like the posts on this thread are evidence of that.

Meanwhile I have 2 friends who were deciding between Gravity vs R1S - but both felt the Gravity wouldn’t be as versatile for their camping and outdoor activities as the Rivian. At no point have I heard them say ‘ if only the GT had 1000+ hp and better badging I would buy one’

Those friends were tracking this announcement specifically hoping it might be the X. Guess that is two more sales Lucid just lost out on.

Good point, however I think you don't need both. With dual rear motors you can use torque vectoring to pivot the car to nearly the same affect as Rear steer.

To be honest, I do want to brag, but I want Air Sapphire level bragging. Just gotta convince my wife to let me spend more than we still owe on our house for a car. Shouldn't be to difficult, right?

Then again, I do truly believe the Air Sapphire is one of those "will be worth more in the future" vehicles, whether Lucid succeeds or not. Not that I would ever want to sell it.

I'm in this boat. I really don't understand why they showed the model off last year and did nothing with it. I'm 100% sure the Gravity X would sell more than the regular Gravity in my area and eat into R1S sales. But I guess they don't want to compete with Rivian.

It was all fake. Upscale nurturer blah blah none of it was ever real or ever going to be. They fired everybody because it was a joke. This GtS at least makes sense as a car and actually exists. It’s back to reality.

It's entirely possible that a year ago they thought they'd release a production vehicle if the concept car got a good reception, but then the botched Gravity launch caught up with them and so their plans changed and now they're just trying to keep the company afloat until they can launch Cosmos.

They announced, when they announced it, that it was a concept model. Lots of manufacturers make concepts that never see production.
