We had a surprising nav experience last week as a result of the new android phone app using Google maps visually, but using HERE maps' database when you search for a POI. See the screenshot below. I entered Rancho Canada del Oro Open Space Preserve into the phone app's search box. With Google maps, this would generally direct the car to the correct parking lot named and visible in the screenshot. HERE maps has two POIs identically named Rancho Canada del Oro Open Space Preserve. The first one, the one that HERE's search defaults to, is the geographic center of the open space preserve - just a point on a trail, not a navigable road. Fortunately the road toward there took us past the parking lot, which we belatedly recognized and turned in to.
Any time you are using two different databases to solve a problem, there can be consistency errors. I imagine the same confusion can happen with the iOS version of the phone app.
