Hi everyone,
I recently noticed that Lucid is now selling a new trifold frunk load cover for the Air, replacing the older bifold version.
I’m wondering if anyone here has purchased or used the new trifold version.
Is it noticeably more convenient or better designed compared to the original bifold cover?
Does it stay in place better, fold more easily, or provide more flexibility in real-world use?
At $250, I’m debating whether it’s worth the upgrade from the original version.
Would love to hear your thoughts or see photos if you have it installed.
Thanks in advance!

My 2025 came with this version. It seems to stay in place fine in the drink frunk, though it's a teeny bit awkward getting it in place one handed because whichever section you're not holding wants to fold/hang down while your trying to slide it in.

Other than that is fine. I haven't seen or used any other version, but I can't imagine it's really bad enough to be worth spending $250 to replace?

Someone correct me if I’m wrong, but I think it’s in the store because the Pure models don’t ship with it. So for anyone who already has it it isn’t an upgrade or anything. Just a part that someone can purchase if they so desire.

Personally, I don’t think it’s a needed thing. But it’s nice to have if you mostly use only a small amount of the Frunk space. And don’t want to bend down lower into the massive frunk well. (Massive, and amazingly useful)

It does a nice job of covering an aftermarket spare.

the original cover isn't very good, $250 for a better one is excessive, lucid should just get rid of the of the poorly designed original and deliver the better one going forwards.

The original one worked fine for me - what issues did you have with it? The only thing it didn’t do was stand up on its own. This one stands up on its own.

I didn’t mind paying for the improvement after a few years. 🤷‍♂️ My first one never broke though.

Sometimes I imagine this is any other car and these details matter.

It's not, and they don't.
Wow I couldn’t disagree more….

They totally sweat the details with literally every part of this vehicle. I find even now (since receiving the first car in 2022) that I find new and interesting use cases or features.

It’s not like any other car, it’s better than any other car. Charging for something they don’t provide for lower trim vehicles is a good thing. As a shareholder I’m glad they can bring down the cost of the Pure and Gravity Vehicles so that more people can enter the Lucid family.
