Wanting to add another long-term owner’s glowing and enthusiastic voice to the chorus of praise we are seeing here.
I’ve personally driven my Lucid Air for over 65,000 miles, and I can say without hesitation: this is the best car I’ve ever owned.
Why? Let’s start with Efficiency & Range: I’ve regularly achieved 450+ miles on a single charge my personal best is +/-485 miles, real world not being miss daisy. (Shocking to the
@AirDoll ’s among us) No range anxiety here. And do I even need to bring up Performance: This thing is a rocket ship when I want it to be, but refined and smooth when I’m cruising. The handling, the suspension tuning, the responsiveness it’s all top-tier.
Interior & Comfort: The cabin is serene, spacious, and beautifully designed. The seats are by far the most comfortable I’ve experienced on long trips. The leather and interior detail work (stitching, joints, accessory’s, map pockets, etc.) are all top notch in line with other Rolls Royce, Bentley, S-Class interiors.
Now for the touchy subject… don’t kill me! Software: Lucid’s software is great, it has worked for me, sure in the beginning it was slow but it has never been unusable. Nowadays, I don’t notice the software and just enjoy the drive. And honestly if you are a car person this car will make you forget about software. Finally, Lucid’s OTA updates have steadily improved the system. DreamDrive and navigation continue to evolve, and I appreciate that they listen to feedback. Seriously listen. They scope these forums personally and have many trusted people who report back to the engineers. This fact alone makes them ahead of the curve. They listen to criticism, and are all for improving. Heck, every update they have a fleet of Lucid Forum feedback just waiting to tell them what they did right, and wrong!
Service: I’ve had my share of minor issues, as with any car, especially a first-gen tech platform, but every time I’ve needed support, Lucid has been responsive and professional. They’ve improved a lot since the early days, and it shows. If you see some of my service posts you can see that they are responsive and attentive to their clients. Dispatching tow trucks if needed and providing generous loaner vehicles for the occasional longer term appointment.
Are there growing pains? Sure. What new automaker doesn’t have them? But I find a lot of the “bad things” people claim to have heard are either outdated, exaggerated, or from people who have never actually driven or owned the car. Or from people that have a ton of Tesla stock… or blind faith in Mr. Elon coming out on top.
In talking with the engineers who designed this vehicle you can see they were out to take a blank sheet of paper and reinvent the EV. And I think they’ve done just that.
Owning a Lucid is a unique experience. It offers high-tech, high-performance, and deeply rewarding experiences to any owner. No matter the trim level. I’ve driven luxury and performance EV’s and iCE vehicles across the board, and Lucid stands out. If OP has more specific concerns or questions, I’m happy to share more. And I know from the good responses to this thread that many others will take up that torch as well if OP needs it.
To those forming opinions based on rumors or Reddit-level hearsay: take a ride in one. Better yet, talk to someone who’s put real miles on theirs. You might be surprised by how much of the noise just doesn’t match reality. And as someone who was one of the firsts to drive a Gravity, I think Lucid is set to hit another vehicle class out of the park.
I’m thirsty for more!
