Has anyone else gotten into their new Air w/o the drivers door open fully… and and full (we gotta go!) speed, WHACKED their shin on the far left side of dashboard? Well I have. Twice in the last few weeks including today. And today left a golf ball bruise and new “L” scar from the impact I to the curve of the metal trim on the dash. Consider myself branded. *photos on request to avoid you all seeing my hairy, swollen and scarring shin.

Still f’ing love my car beyond words…and blood.

Oh yes, yes, yes.

Haha would love to see a photo.

I have my radar detector screen there too, so I've definitely smacked that with my knee a number of times going both in and out. Acrylic is unforgiving 🤣

I haven't done that. But the door is really heavy. I was leaning down when I opened it quickly one night and snacked myself in the face. That hurt!

It’s okay, today I realized how low (and hard) the trunk is when open with my forehead while grabbing groceries out the car 😂

There’s also the sharp corner scrape from the doors that I have been bitten by too many times for my ego to handle.

So far I'm at 1x for the door corner, 2x for the left dash corner. Relatively minor compared to a gash I got from a Mercedes.

I whacked my head yesterday getting in for the first time in over a year. Had to take a moment to laugh at myself.

And no, I hadn’t been drinking. At that point.

But did you enter butt first or head first? I heard there’s a strategy 😂

Never. Right leg first, with a good lean angle always does the trick. Until it doesn’t, I guess.

These are badges and scars of honor for Air owners 😘

Two years in and I wait a sec., once I'm seated, before I reach out for the door...knowing I will bang my head two more times.

It's a good hurt!

The points on the rear doors are particularly lethal. I’ve ripped a pair of pants and my wife has gotten a good scrape as well.

Most people have no clue that you get into a sedan in a much different way than an SUV. I had no idea either when I first bought my Model S. Thankfully, a guy at a supercharger educated me. I had spent months banging the side of my head on the roof.

Essentially, you sit in the seat butt first (sideways to the seat) like your sitting in a chair. Then swing your legs in, as you rotate your body. Very easy, and no more busted up heads, or banged up legs!

I think butt first is the strangest way to get in a car. My husband does it, however I am a leg first and slide in (which is exactly why I have hit my shin on the dash if I’m hurrying). To each their own I guess 😂

I’m definitely a butt guy
