Maximum USB Stick Size

Definitely seem to be more reliable using my 128 GB USB-A Stick I took out of my Model Y.

I really want my 2 TB stick to work.

yeah everyone seem to have this issue. Its somewhat 50/50 if it works or not. I do want to say, for me the old stick was really "too slow", that error is gone now with the new stick.

Agreed,, I have made it a habit to tap the HaloSecure icon & see if it records lol

I put a 1TB SSD usb stick in the halo secure slot. car won't recognize it. works fine with other cars. I put a 1TB usb flash drive in the slot. works fine. the 1TB SSD are SSD components in a USB shell, but have work with pretty much anything that can read USB. so not sure. gave up after several tries. Flash drive it is.

Oddly the few USB I tried did not work or recognize, but end up reverting to the SSD which worked 50% of the time

NothEv used a 1TB Samsung drive and seems it’s working. I think you don't need more

he said USB-C? there is no USB-C port in the glovebox, or what am I missing here.

I literally just plugged in an old USB stick I had at home, I think 128gb and it works. probably enough space if you delete old footage from time to time.

@NerviG Have you tried viewing the Halo files on a laptop? If so, how? I just pulled my USB and the files appeared to be .bin files. Thanks!

Be sure to get one that is rated for heat and shock. Cars get very hot and you’ll want the USB stick to survive an accident. I couldn’t find a rugged one over 512 GB.

The love the form factor of the Samsung Fit Plus 512 GB. I was going to order a second one but it’s out of stock.

The Samsung Bar Plus 512 GB may be a good alternative.

Coming back to the size of the USB stick for music, you first have to get the stick formatted correctly. ExFAT and NTFS don't seem to work when I've tried them. FAT32 seems to be required. Up until recently, Microsoft did not provide a way to format a FAT32 drive greater than 32 GB. However, they recently allowed it except you have to do it a more complex way using a series of command lines. If you look hard, you can find FAT32 sticks that come from the manufacturer greater than 32 GB, but they are not common.

I've been able to use a 64 GB stick which works fine. It has 234 albums on it. The only issue with it is that while the Gravity reads it fine, it takes a few minutes so I'm already at my destination for a short ride. It usually does not persist between rides and has to load all over again.

I did this a couple of days ago. In mine, there were a bunch of bin files, but then there was a folder titled halosecure, in which there were viewable video files.
