Lucid Service Issues

What's the infamous sway bar?
Many people on the forum reported a clunking noise in the front of the car when going over relatively small bumps. It turned out that the primary cause of that was the loosening of a connection in the sway bar, which is something to do with the front axle.

So at this point, anytime you go in for service there’s a standing order to check that, whether you’ve reported an issue or not.

I've had a couple of issues with my 2026 Air Touring since having it delivered last November. The first mobile appointment and the second appointment, which was onsite were easy to schedule via the app. The third time though, a couple of months ago, I also experienced the unreturned calls as I tried to schedule. When I escalated through Customer Care (toll free Lucid number), I got a text from the San Diego repair team and that worked much better. I still have his text number and have found this to be much better than trying to call them for an appointment.

That said, I'm really disappointed at the number of issues in my less-than-6 months-old vehicle. The wiper blades leave a smear directly over the driver's side of the windshield. There have been 3 repair attempts, one mobile and 2 onsite in the San Diego service center. This is still unresolved. There was also a clunking noise in the rear. That is now resolved, after the second onsite repair appointment. Now I have a new issue (in addition to the unresolved wiper blade one). The car is not connecting to the Lucid cellular network, so the app only connects to the car when I'm parked in my garage and connected to my home WiFi. So I'm now in the repair queue again.

Even more frustrating, they have sent me to Enterprise for a loaner each time, and kept the car for a couple of weeks onsite. This leaves me stuck driving a Tesla Model 3, instead of the car I bought. I've never had a new car with this many problems before and would be very reluctant to recommend buying a Lucid to a friend.

The service from Lucid seems to have degraded markedly in the last few months. As reported in this forum, at multiple locations, customers who bring their car for service at the Lucid SCs are required to wait for 2-3 week to get service. The backlog seems to be correlated to Lucid's staff reduction/layoff in Q4'2025.

I asked the service advisor why it takes so long and was it because of the layoffs. He said the Scottsdale SC was not affected much by the layoffs. And they have 30 people working at the SC. That's hard to believe.

I have the same experience (2 week to get to my car for a simple 2hr. annual service, Enterprise rental). The business model/practice makes no sense at all. Aside from customer frustration, this kind of service will bankrupt Lucid! There must be an adult at Lucid's senior management looking at the chaos and know something is rotten! Please do something!

Service came and picked up my car for a spa appointment in Coldwater, Michigan. They left me with a 2026 Air Touring in Quantum Grey Metallic with Stealth Appearance and aluminum roof. My car needs to have the frunk motors and latches adjusted. Hopefully they will have it only a work or so. In the meantime, here are my thoughts on the situation so far.

  • The mobile service tech that came out was very courteous and focused.
  • The loaner came to me with 373 miles on it so it is fresh. Only options are Stealth and Dream Drive Premium.
  • I miss my Tahoe interior. I miss my glass cockpit.
  • Oddly, I think the interior is hotter than the glass cockpit, but probably because I got my windows tinted before we started seeing 70 degree temps.
  • In two days of driving I am seeing really good efficiency. 3.5 - 4.5 mi/kWh. Hopefully I'll see similar in my car when I get it back and it finally starts to enjoy the warmer weather.
  • I cannot BT pair my phones. Well, actually I can, but it does not allow access to CarPlay or Android Auto, so what's the point. And when they are BT connected, what I am listening to on my phone doesn't get picked up by the car. It seems like my media is playing, based on the phone screen, but there is no audio from the car, my phone, or my headset. Weird. Tomorrow I'm just gonna forget the BT pairings and just cable my iPhone to see if I can at least get access to my Apple Music Library that way.
  • Based on the previous note, I miss my Tidal / SSP.
  • Driving feels different in this car than my own. Must be the difference in mass from the 30 kWh of battery that my car is carrying.
I'll update on the pluses and minuses of my experience with service. So far so good.

I had an exceptional Lucid service experience recently.
  • My 2023 AWD Pure went in for its 2-year maintenance on 4/1. In addition to the usual items in the 2-year checklist, there were a few other relatively minor items that needed addressing.
  • Fred was my service point of contact at Lucid Millbrae (SF Bay Area).
  • I received a 2023 AWD Pure loaner (identical spec to mine except for 19" wheels -- mine are 20s -- and white instead of Zenith Red). The loaner worked out great -- no software/hardware issues. The ride is definitely softer and quieter on the 19s vs the 20s, but I like the overall connectedness and feel of the 20s more. Other than that, the experience was like being in my own car.
  • My car did take some time to service -- it was ready for pickup last night (4/21). I picked it up earlier this morning (4/22). I understand they are backed up, no question about that. But my basically identical loaner ensured that my family and I had an unbroken Lucid experience throughout.
  • Fred did an incredible job start to finish in terms communication (both in the clarity of text exchanges and in the level of detail in the service invoice), professionalism, and quality of work by the team. Kudos to him and the team. @marqie I'd appreciate it if you could let them know!
  • Overall I'm extremely satisfied with my service experience. This has been my fourth or fifth service experience with them (all relatively minor) and each time has been pretty much like this.
I'm sharing my experience here so that forum members/visitors get a more balanced perspective on Lucid service experiences. The usual disclaimers about not negating others' experiences apply, of course.

The part in bold is my biggest concern at the moment. I have a long trip planned over the Mothers Day weekend and I REALLY want my own car back for that. Some of the creature comforts that I am missing as well as not being able to connect my phones to the car would irritate me if I have to make the trip with the loaner. Three weeks for routine service is way too long..

OP Update:

No call backs, no emails. Total silence. I followed up this morning again.

I did get a Survey today. You can imagine what I wrote.... Hopefully someone reads my responses, and I get contacted, but I am not holding my breath.

I don't think anyone disagrees that service times need to be shorter.

I was perfectly fine using the loaner for the three weeks (including for some spring break travel) because, as mentioned, it was identical to my vehicle in every way that mattered to me. Further, I use CarPlay, so the UX was identical to my actual vehicle. My question for my family was: if the loaner is almost identical to our own vehicle, how much does it matter? For my family, the answer was "not much at all". But to each their own.

That's the issue. I cannot use CarPlay because I cannot link my phones to the loaner.

It’s a different story when you’re checking in a GDE and given an Air Pure with no bells and whistles for a few weeks which has happened to me multiple times. For a few days? Not a problem, but for weeks on end? Completely unacceptable.

That’s fair.

Just got a call from Jason at Coldwater Service Center. They're done with my car. Scheduled to return to me next Thursday. I'm a happy camper! He also clued me in on some missing caps and covers under neath the vehicle that they'll be replacing. So, @maggie245 I will be giving Coldwater Service Center an A+.

@AirQuality, thanks for the reminder on the wired CarPlay. I had intended to try that today but it totally slipped my mind, so I'm gonna go do that now.

Thank you for sharing! I will make sure this gets passed along!

Meanwhile my GGT remains sitting in backlot at Houston service center for coming up on 4 weeks with zero updates. Periodically check on car via app and internal temps getting to 120s and battery has lost 12% of charge while sitting there.

Guess I blew it. Should have tagged @marqie instead of @maggie245. Chalk it up to retiree-brain. 🫢

Sounds completely unreasonable. Mind you mine has been sitting at the Scottsdale Service Center for week with no one looking at it. Told me it would be there for up to 3 weeks if they need parts. But not looking at them while having them waiting in service isn't helping the brand at all.

While I understand the frustration of many who have had their car at a Lucid SC for weeks before they had the openings to service them, & I have been in that same boat, recently I had a positive experience at King of Prussia I want to share. I'm coming up on 50,000 miles so I wanted to ensure I had everything warranty related completed before I hit that magic moment when all repairs, except for those related to my battery, are paid for with my nickel. While there were some delays in getting the warranty work and installation of the new CCV2 chip completed, I have to give a shout out to Dana at KOP who went all out to expedite the necessary work. In the interim she made it a point to keep me advised of projected completeion dates.
I thought she was a great advocate and hope she sets a standard that other service centers can match.

Thank you for sharing your positive experience.

Inasmuch as Lucid's SCs under siege, I think there is a better way to handle things then their current practice:

> when customers scheduled their service months in advance, there is no reason why they turn in their cars at the appointed date and then have to wait weeks to get it serviced.
> this is bad for the customers and for Lucid. Lucid gives the customers a loaner, or in some cases including my own, an Enterprise (Luxury) rental, which Lucid pays for.
> my Enterprise "Luxury" loaner is a RAV4, and the driver's side floor mat has a huge hole in the middle of it! I don't personally care that much about it. But it looks really bad, for Enterprise and for Lucid!

What is maddening is not about the "2 week wait" to get my car serviced (scheduled 4 months ago). If you do the math. Lucid will lose money on my "$340 Schedule A" annual service because of the Enterprise rental, which I don't care for.

So, my question to Lucid is:

Who at Lucid thinks this is OK?!

I have to agree with the concerns explained here.
I have to get the Frunk adjusted. It opens and closes twice before opening and I am concerned that it might get stuck closed so I called for an appointment. I was told that the first available appointment was 4 weeks away but I would likely have to leave the car for 3-6 weeks. I asked if I could drop it off closer to the actual service appointment so that I would not lose the car for such a long period of time and was told no. Mobile service could not handle this issue so I chose to live with it, but to be honest I live in southern California and have the Costa Mesa Service Center 10 minutes away and the lack of concern for the inconvenience of losing my car is not a factor.

I have a Gravity Grand Touring fully loaded and love the vehicle, but I wish there was a sign that the service experience was improving but sadly it seems unchanged. Really makes little sense to lose your car for 1-2 months when this should be an adjustment and if it needed a part you could order it if it was going to take some time to obtain it and I could return.

I hope that this improves as I would like to own and Drive this type of vehicle for the foreseeable future. this is the best and most fun car that I have purchased or leased but I would love to see a reason to believe that the Company is actually listening and has a real plan for improvement.

Hope is important. I do love my car!
