Lucid: please dial back Surreal Sound Pro a bit

On a recent drive, I realized that I'd prefer something midway between the old Surreal Sound Pro and the new. I noticed unwelcome booming on a tight jazz vocal track. Turned down the bass a bit but didn't help. Never had that issue before. IMO the last OTA update went too far on boosting the bass. It sounds a bit like an old Bose system with boomy sub trying to make up for something.

I also had an issue with the increased sensitivity of the center volume roller. I find it distracting to try to operate the roller while driving - you have to be careful to get just one click at a time. OTOH, the steering wheel volume toggle is now usable for the same reason.

For us, a comfortable listening volume is now in the 5-10% range. Used to be around 20-30%. I don't need my car's audio to go up to 11 if it means a dealing with touchy volume control and a lack of granularity in adjustment.

Sounds like we need more adjustments on the EQ? Maybe seven bands instead of three??

I'd propose 9 if they have the processing overhead for it. Based on my testing, the current three bands don't overlap well, leaving some harshness in the gaps, like boominess and a metallic-forward tone.

And I'll request the ability to adjust how much artificial soundstage it adds. A little bit can open up the sound. Too much can be fatiguing to listen to. Some recordings have the effect built in, and a lot of additional processing can defeat the purpose.

(And being an amateur audiophile, there are a lot of other adjustments I'd like, but they can be overwhelming to the average user.)

Yup. 100% agree with this. I think a better solution would be for the center volume roller to say adjust by a single unit, but the steering wheel control
Adjust by 2-3 units. That way the center volume roller and steering wheel control can both be usable.

I used to spin the center roller like a Tibetan prayer wheel. Now I approach it very carefully.
