Lucid Mobile App – UX Observations & Curious if Others Feel the Same

Hey all,
We’ve been using the Lucid mobile app for a bit now and wanted to open up a discussion around its user experience. From a design and usability perspective, it’s a sleek app — very on-brand for Lucid — but we’ve noticed a few areas where things feel a little unintuitive.

For example:

• The remote functions (like climate or lock/unlock) sometimes feel like they’re a few too many taps deep.
• Notifications could be more informative or actionable.
• And in general, the layout could probably be better optimized for quick interactions — especially when you’re on the move.

This isn’t a complaint thread — just wanted to hear from other Lucid drivers:
What’s working well for you in the app? And what feels like it could be improved in future updates?

Always curious how real-world users experience these tools, especially with how important the mobile app is to the Lucid ecosystem.

I'm confused, climate (on/off) is one tap of the power icon under Climate, and lock/unlock are one tap + confirmation. Additionally on iOS the app exposes shortcut actions for most vehicle functions which you can add to your home/lock screen.

I wish the line weights in the four quick action icons could be the same as the line weight in the text of the Climate, Charging, etc items below, for better visibility with old eyes. Other than that - no issues.

Can't say I agree, I'm not sure how you could get any fewer taps for the most common actions. If you're on Android then you can use a Widget to have access from your home screen. I suppose they could let us bypass the confirmation dialog but I'm not sure that's a good idea. The only complaint I have about the app now is the wake up time.

Functionality wise there's a lot (A LOT) to be desired, but to me the stupidest thing is about what we have is that when the vehicle is plugged in there is no more "waking up" wheel when you first open the app to wake up the car.

It just sits there and the only reason you even know it's "thinking" is because the actionable icons are greyed out instead of gold. And with how long that takes it makes the app looks like it's frozen for no reason.

Their devs have made a lot of questionable decisions like that UI wise.

I agree with this point—the older version of the mobile app was better in this regard. The bottom tabs made it much easier to navigate between sections like controls, climate, and more without needing to scroll. In contrast, the new app consolidates everything into a single scrolling list, which is neither the most efficient nor the most user-friendly navigation method. While the bottom tabs for the map and user profile remain, accessing other features has become unnecessarily complicated. For example, if you need service, do you go to "Service" on the main page, or tap the user profile tab and then the "Help" button? Having two parallel paths to reach service or help creates confusion. It feels like the recent "major" update simply mimicked the Tesla app by lumping everything into a single list, sacrificing usability in the process.

The rest of your post was about something that is confusing to me, since my car is presently plugged in and absolutely just woke up and the app said it was waking up. So I’m not sure how you’re seeing that behavior.

I really like the new service options, where you can basically select a menu of things the car needs.

I wish the rows were rearrangeable.

He didn't ask for more examples, he asked for "anything specific?" after I already gave one. OP specifically said this wasn't a complaint thread but if you want more than one, here you go lol:

-The "Charging Complete" notification is spammed every time the car wakes up when it is plugged in, even though it has not done any additional charging since the last time it gave the notification. This caused me to turn off that notification category completely.

-There is no refresh or search button on the software update page to let you check for an update, and no indication of when the last search was.

-Actionable icons past the first 4 are hidden behind a tray that requires a downward swipe.

-There is a nag notification if you use Android's back button to return to the home screen instead of the home button, even though both do exactly the same thing and leave the app running in the background in the same manner.

-And here is a video of the behavior you are confused by. The car was already awake so it happened pretty quickly, usually the middle part with the grey frozen icons lasts ~20 seconds or longer if the car was actually sleeping.

It's possible to give feedback without complaining, IMO. It just has to be helpful.

The app doesn't check for updates at all, updates are pushed to the car and your phone hears about it from the car. That's refreshed as often as the rest of the information from the car, which is every few seconds (while you're looking at it). Obviously it could be more clear about that though, because you didn't know that.
