I suspect that it just tests filamaents. EL-34's??

BTW - Your rig location is much smarter than mine. I have power cable loss rear to front, and RF loss front to rear. I guess that I did not have a control and speaker extender handy at the time.

That's why I went for the FTM-500. AFAIK, it's the only mobile that puts the mic interface in the remote head. And the built-in speaker is very good. The TR unit is tucked away in the trunk cubby and below the antenna. The only interconnection is a CAT5 cable. I don't understand why all other remote head-based systems still make you plug your mic directly into the TR unit. Kinda lame.

Hah!!!! - No. But my first mobile rig used an 807 in the final and a dynamoter. My second - a Goony Box used a 2E26 in the final and lots of other tubes. Cheap Shot Dept: I think the Lucid keyfob uses tubes.

I think the Lucid keyfob uses the DeForest Audion.

First, I inserted my photos before I started entering this text. Important safety note ----- Don't do that. If you do you won't be given a message entry field.

I installed my FTM-500 in the right side cubby in my trunk. It fit perfect and there's a 12v plug right there. I ran ethernet to the remote head mounted in a cup holder mount. Piece of cake. Take special note of my antenna installation. The model number is on page 3 of this thread. This was the only way I could mount an antenna on an aluminum car with glass tinted with an embedded metal film. It works great. It glues onto the glass and is solid. If you need to remove it you just get some fishing line and drag it down along side the glue strip.

So I just picked up an Anytone D578 rig for my Rivian ... the key is that it's 1) easy to install; 2) easily portable to the Gravity; 3) requires zero permanent modifications.

The reason I chose the Anytone is twofold:
1) It supports DMR - we have a bunch of local repeaters on DMR; thought I'd like to play along.
2) Anyone also has a Bluetooth remote speaker/mic for it -- with a usable display and keypad. That's fantastic - I can park the transceiver in the rear of the vehicle, mount the BT-01 up on my dash, and be good to go. Kinda cool setup - no wires needed across the vehicle.

Will try to get it installed this weekend.
