My Gravity was in for service last month. I did mention to the service manager how frustrating it was to get through just to make an appointment. She said they had been swamped by the 2nd row seat recall and they had swapped out some of their customer servicing systems. Apparently the new systems are why my initial texts went unanswered.Oof, I’ve never seen that message before. I wonder if they switched phone systems or something.
Every time someone complains, they mention a new phone or CRM system. That excuse is getting old...My Gravity was in for service last month. FWIW, I have this on good authority now; there was a change, and it quite literally meant their phones weren’t ringing, at least at service. Their computers were, but nobody is at their computers during the day when servicing vehicles.Every time someone complains, they mention a new phone or CRM system. That excuse is getting old...
This may be getting old, but it is also true. I’ve also heard that internal systems have been getting upgraded. It’s unfortunate the transition has been less than smooth, but as the saying goes, sometimes you need to break a few eggs to make an omelet.Every time someone complains, they mention a new phone or CRM system. I sent feedback in over this also. I suggested it would be good if the X button on the steering wheel could become “dual function” so when an automatic lane change happens that you don’t want you can hit the X to cancel. Any other time outside of that it would just cancel DreamDrive as normal.2. I'd love a quick way to disable automatic lane changes, instead of digging through settings. Found myself a few times happily coasting in the second lane and Gravity kept trying to change into the passing lane because second lane a bit slower. I guess I could have lowered the target speed but a quick click on the center of left directional pad would be perfect. My wife chose to just turn off automatic lane switching for this reason.
Ah yes, I used the stalk a couple of times to cancel lane changes and then found myself monitoring the car to *prevent* lane changes (in addition to usual monitoring in hands free) and started wondering if this level of monitoring is that much better than just driving it myself haha. Mostly joking - hands free on highway is a huge improvement in driving comfort and hoping this small tweak will make it even less stressful.I sent feedback in over this also. FYI - you can stop the lane change by hitting the stalk in either direction as well. You don’t need to turn it on and off in the settings.
I also agree on the need for quick switch between auto lane change and assisted lane change. Most of my day to day driving is get on highway and stay for only 3-6 exits and then exit. I-10 here has 5 main lanes and DDP wants to get to the left lanes pretty soon. I usually prefer to stay in the right 2 or 3 lanes so that I am ready for exit. I have gotten into turn signal battles with DDP trying to keep it to right as it wants to move left. For now, I am going to just keep auto lane change turned off unless I am on a longer road trip where it would be more valuable.I sent feedback in over this also. I agree. I’ve been disengaging Drive Assist more when I’m approaching interchanges due to the fact that you need to be on high alert to make sure it doesn’t change you back out of the lane you need to be in for the upcoming change (first world problemsAh yes, I used the stalk a couple of times to cancel lane changes and then found myself monitoring the car to *prevent* lane changes (in addition to usual monitoring in hands free) and started wondering if this level of monitoring is that much better than just driving it myself haha. I totally don't trust it when I'm approaching another car with a large speed difference, especially a stopped car. It seems like the radar takes too long to lock, probably to prevent false-positives, which is a good thing.5. Definitely a little nerve wracking at times when the car chose to slow down later than I would have but I mostly learned to trust it after a couple of those incidents.
Can second this. My mobile tech told me they took away all the old phones, hence he was communicating with me on his personal line.FWIW, I have this on good authority now; there was a change, and it quite literally meant their phones weren’t ringing, at least at service. Yeah, the major challenge of radar is that it cannot “see” the position of stationary objects, just that something unmoving is in front of you somewhere. Only camera and Lidar can see positions of objects in your path.I totally don't trust it when I'm approaching another car with a large speed difference, especially a stopped car. Yeah, I'd thought the LiDAR would do a better job at detecting stationary objects though. Its mediocre on the Highways but on city streets its like you're playing a game of chicken which 90% of the time I lose and interveneYeah, the major challenge of radar is that it cannot “see” the position of stationary objects, just that something unmoving is in front of you somewhere. My car has radar and lidar, but it seems to me the lidar sensor isn't being used at all.Only camera and Lidar can see positions of objects in your path.
Hm, my mobile tech told me that in October of last year too. They need to pick a carrier! Can second this. My mobile tech told me they took away all the old phones, hence he was communicating with me on his personal line.
This is not quite correct. Radar sees all objects that reflect the radar signal. It is the target identification and tracking software that is limited. It can only track a limited number of objects and tends to ignore stationary objects because they are usually less important than the moving objects.Yeah, the major challenge of radar is that it cannot “see” the position of stationary objects, just that something unmoving is in front of you somewhere. What I mean is that radar "sees" everything, but it cannot know where it is left, right, up, or down relative to your position. It generally just knows that objects are in front of you at relative speeds and distances, but not spacial positioning. Radar beams are not easily steerable, like camera & lidar, so relative positioning is difficult. This is not quite correct. Radar sees all objects that reflect the radar signal. This could be an example of using too many sensors and software just cannot sort it all out... If a car as lidar, radar, and camera, the software must have algorithms that have decide which is the primary and then if there is a conflict, how to resolve the conflict. Basically those three are a little redundant and probably cause some sensory overload. And tbh, if a car as lidar, then it should delete radar. Radar cannot add anything to the other two sensors, it is the lowest resolution device. It seems like the radar takes too long to lock
