I signed up for the Lucid charging service so when I go to Tesla, for example their chargers, I just plug in and it is charging practically before I even get back to my driver seat. Same goes for Electrify America but my question is do I get the best rates is it linked so that if I go at 1 o’clock in the morning, I’m gonna get the best rate through that. Does anybody have any specific information about how it compares to say if I signed up for the Lucid service specifically and or the Electrify America thank you

My second question is I’d like to find America has a grand total of two charging stations in the entire country that are NACS anyone have any information about their long-term goals thank you

It is precisely the same rates as EA and Tesla without a membership.

A membership with either is cheaper on a per-unit basis, plus a fixed monthly fee. You can sign up for either or both, and cancel immediately, and still get the 30 days of membership.

To use it, you’d have to initiate the charge from the EA or Tesla apps before plugging in the vehicle; otherwise, your Lucid charging service plan will take over and charge you regular rates.

The rate difference is substantial. For example, $0.45 with a Tesla subscription versus $0.65 without a Tesla subscription - you end up paying 50% more without the subscription.

Even with the subscription, you’ll pay the non-subscription rate if you just plug the charger into your Lucid. You must activate a charging session through the Tesla app before you plug-in to get the subscription rate.

I have never used EA, but I’m guessing it is the same.

I deleted my payment card in the Lucid Charging Service because it persistently interfered with my subscriptions to both Tesla and Electrify America. With EA in particular I had frequent instances where, even though I started the session with the EA app (with subscription discount) before plugging in, the stations seemed more inclined glitch / hang on initiating the charge and the Lucid charging service would then take over the charge. In order to avoid paying 150% for juice, you have to then jump to the Lucid app to cancel the session, unplug, and try to start all over in the EA app. This gets old quickly.

And yep, the cost differential isn't small -- the surcharge (sorry) on 1 big session can exceed the monthly subscription cost. Since taking delivery of my GGT I've been averaging 1000 mi. / month, mostly on long trips, so the convenience of plug & charge is too expensive for me. Since I scrubbed the card from the Lucid wallet, charging on both networks has gone much smoother -- rarely glitching.

The only (much smaller) annoyance is the Lucid app now blinks a persistent notification that "Charging Service is disabled. Verify your payment method." Until such time as Lucid deploys the pass-through subscription savings in their plug & charge service, the least they could do is allow users to simply toggle it off.

Yeah, even if you dismiss the notification in the app it comes back every time. I use the Tesla subscription as we've been travelling quite a bit (all still localish in SoCal for now) and mostly just use Superchargers or if not it's an Ionna or ChargePoint based on location.

Can you give the Lucid app a fake card # to stop the notification?

I haven’t had any problems leaving my credit card on the Lucid app.

For those having issues, are you waiting until the handshake with the Tesla/EA app completes with the charger? I can see a situation where you activate the charger through the app, plug in the charger (which activates Lucid plug and charge) before the charging station receives the activation from the Tesla/EA servers.

I don’t touch the station’s charging handle until the Tesla app tells me to do so. Zero issues over a few dozen charging sessions.

I had my fill of EA with my BMW IX. I try to avoid them now so no need for one of their plans. I do have the Tesla subscription though.

Yeah, it's tricky to get the different apps to work without conflict, which is why I gave up on having a card in the Lucid wallet. EA screens instruct you to "Plug in first" before hitting the "start charge" button in their app. Their stations are improving but still tend to be buggier than Tesla -- and side note: the Tesla v3 / 325kW seem far more likely to be glitchy for our Gravity than the v2 / 250kW which are pretty solid.

EA used to be generally horrible but we've found that, at least along our routes, they've been upgrading their stations & installing more of the newer "Hyper" 350kW units. At a couple different spots I've engaged with techs that were working on the systems who said they've been on a push to upgrade their hardware recently, more than SOP in the past. Problem we often encounter is there are far less stalls available at EA than at your typical Tesla station, and during busy times they're all full, with people waiting -- and unfortunately there seems to be no shortage of people willing to walk away from their vehicle to have a leisurely meal while they charge for the extra 45 mins to 100%.

So while we prefer EA 350kW plugs over Tesla, we choose EA charging stops carefully to always have a Plan B, e.g. a nearby Supercharger. The only isolated EA station which we always drop in on is near Garberville on the 101 in the NorCal redwoods. It has 4 stalls, 2 of which are 350kW; it is right on the side of the road, literally 20 feet from the highway, and there's rarely anyone there.

Hmmm..I thought v2 Tesla chargers won't charge non-Tesla vehicles?
Guess I was mistaken

Are you asking if EA has NACS only chargers? I wouldn't hold my breath on NACS only chargers outside of Tesla chargers in the US anytime soon. Just purchase a CCS to NACS adapter and you can use any DCFC you want.

Ionna has NACS chargers I know this for a fact as the one in SF has them

My mistake -- sorry I was one version off. I have been calling the threes twos, and the fours threes. What I meant was charging the GGT with the Tesla app, the 250kW stations seem more reliable than the 325kW. And when the 325 works, it does not seem to offer much charging speed advantage.

Just to add to that confusion, you're likely calling "V3.5" chargers V4 here. There are only 10 true V4 Superchargers in the US but a lot that have the V4 dispensers with the V3 backend cabinets so people call them V3.5.
