Lucid Body Repair Team

This is a bit esoteric, but an interesting video got posted yesterday of a panel discussion with the Lucid Body Repair Team. I had some interactions with this team when our first Air was totaled in an accident. They were extremely helpful as liaisons between the body shop that examined the car for repair potential and an insurance adjuster who was utterly confused about how a Lucid differs from many other cars under the skin, due to its extremely dense component packaging. (There's a reason Lucids have such large frunks whereas some competitors pack an ICE cars' worth of components under the hood.)

thank you and my takeaways are that partner body shops need to invest in training and tools upfront including a preferred welding machine 'CMT' .
Noted to self to ask that and 'which guy has the aluminum welding skills?'. My exploratory course at the Crucible (OAK) with mig, tig and conventional made it clear today welding leaped over conventional bead welding I learned in high school a century ago. got through 22 of 28 minutes before the dog demanded a walk

It was a bit esoteric, and I do understand your dog's priorities.

What most interested me was the insight it gives into just how much work goes on behind the scenes at Lucid with the design and engineering of these cars. I'm sure there are similar things behind the curtains at other automakers, but Lucid's willingness -- even its relish -- in talking about them publicly has always been impressive. Their Tech Talks, for instance, were like nothing I have seen from any other car company in my decades of slogging through automotive journalism.

Basically Lucid repairs require a specialized welding machine and an above average operator in order to even be considered.
