Lucid Air GT vs Mercedes-Benz S65 AMG

GT is a fantastic overall EV but if you need a more sporty / looks grab a used 2020-23 Taycan Turbo they’re on sale at great used pricing for a great handling EV sporty car. Can’t go wrong with either choice of GT or turbo taycan.

EQS interior isn't great. It's very flashy and gaudy. Lots of silver and screens everywhere. I haven't sat in a new S class, i'm not sure how similar they are. But I think the Lucid Air interior build is pretty nice other than a few creaking pieces like the rear deck and the steering wheel. I would say the Lucid Air interior materials and design are BETTER than EQS.

The Air is pretty low though, so If you're used to other luxury cars with a higher seating position, the Lucid will feel different. Just make sure you try it and and make sure your knees are good with entering/exiting and you don't hit your head on the door sill.
Agree. I looked at one last year when looking to replace my 2022 S580. Wasn't at all impressed and went with the S580e PHEV - Interior, ride quality, and luxury feel are clearly still best in class, and the EQS is not an S-class. I think the fact is that I'd be taking a step down in some of the more luxury feeling features of the S580 to get into an all-electric car in the Lucid, but the benefits of going electric might outweigh that. I like being able to drive my current car off the battery for my commute, but the motor leaves a lot to desire, especially in such a heavy car. I'll test drive the Lucid this weekend - tempted by 18 month lease and then Mercedes should be at a point where the "real" S-class has a true electric option so I could always switch back if I'm not happy.

Take a test long drive, or a couple long drives. 30 minutes isn't enough.

Can confirm - also if you care about such things, ask to drive one with 20" wheels and performance tires. I did not like my test drive on a GT with the 19s and all seasons at all. 20s was a very different experience.

Maybe not the same class but the CT5 V Blackwing with a manual or if you have to an auto is imho the best balance of driver engagement and comfort of any sedan that I’ve experienced. Driving everything discussed here with the exception of a Sapphire.

I'm considering moving over from a 2024 S580e. S-class clearly is the traditional best in class luxury sedan for cabin quality, silence, and ride. Performance doesn't matter much to me. Is this car going to feel as nice as an S-class or am I better off waiting a couple of years until Merc electrifies the current line? The EQS is of no interest to me.
Lucid vs the EQS is a no brainer going with lucid. I test drove both and model s was also better than the eqs. However, if it's pure luxury you're after the S class is unmatched. If you're waiting on Mercedes to make a true s class ev I don't see it happening anytime soon. Lease a lucid for 24-36 months.
