Lease return excess wear & tear

A scratch on the body undercladding? So if you ever scrape the bottom you should expect to pay $2400?
I agree on scratches. From the picture I see what might be a hole in the middle. If there is a hole that would require replacement.

But...$2400 for a part that is designed to be replaced? That is truly excessive.

In Arizona when it rains the ground has no absorbency so it floods on the streets. To prevent that there are depressions at many intersections. I destroyed a belly pan driving over one. The dealership split the cost with me-- I don't remember if my cost was $300 some odd dollars or the total cost. $2400 is ridiculous.

part # for front bumper lower cover: P11-E215XX
check price for replacement part from Lucid.
There are used ones with flaws on ebay ,but they may not pass inspection.

I had the following damage, and the quote from the service center to replace this shield was “The part itself is 60.98 and labor is about 60 dollars”

So I am fairly convinced that this is literally just an error.

The Reddit thread probably has a dozen people who were on the fence about buying or leasing that may be reconsidering. Tens or hundreds of thousands have seen the reddit posts and the two news articles. Take that for what you will.
You got that right! I’m very thankful to this forum for pointing out what I would have to expect had I leased.

I love the car, but I’m really not loving the company right now.

I wonder if most of these are coming out of the same service centers. Has anyone noticed?

Hi, everyone. Please contact the LFS Concierge at (833) 562-1083 to request they initiate a review of any lease return charges that may be in dispute. This will allow both Bank of America and Lucid the opportunity to review the charge for accuracy.

Hi @borski and others moderators. I was thinking if messages like this could be posted on an announcement section on home discussion page because thread disappear so quickly from main page. Just a suggestion for important message from Lucid reps.

did they help you with your undertray did it look like this?!

@fisheral check your DMs.

All - a suggestion from a trusted source who shall remain nameless to protect the innocent: have your lease pre-inspected first, then consult the service center. It doesn't change whether you would have to pay for the damage, but it should be a fair price. They can potentially try to generate a fair estimate that they would give you if you called in to inquire. No fouls and nothing shady.

If you are already at final, and didn't do a pre-inspection, please follow @marqie's suggestion above.

@fisheral for the record, that part is $398 retail, and no more than $300 labor. About $700 total. I originally got the wrong quote for the wrong part, and misread my texts.

Anyway, it should be no more than $700 for a replacement, including parts and labor. Not $2400.

Glad to see Lucid management is as pissed as customers are. Let's hope a definitive solution is found

Agree with DrK that they need someone on the behalf of the Lucid lessee. I saw an article about a month ago about the vitriol from Lucid lessees and their turn-in experience. From what I read, Lucid was acknowledging what is happening. It gave me hope that we won't have a problem. But this is way worse than I expected. I am 59 years old and have leased probably 10-12 cars in my life. I have never had this problem once.

I see what merveille is saying, but in regards to the windshield, there is no costs to absorb for Lucid. No one buying this car would have any issue with the windshield as we turned it in. It was as clean as can be. The fact he used the original picture implies to me is he saw the original glass in the car, didn't even look at it and charged the $2500.

Our salesman is contacting my fiancé at lunch so we'll see if I have something positive to report.
I am back. My fiancé got her final bill today and they are charging her $2850 for Excess Wear and Tear, of which $2500 is for the windshield. So our Salesman who said he talked to his Manager and other higher ups, had no effect so far. She is going to send him the final invoice and he will say to call customer care I'm sure. To recap, we had a Safelite glass company come out to look at our windshield. She said the fact that she got called out was a joke, as there were no cracks to speak of. Any miniature dot she saw she fixed at the order of her Manager. We told this to Lucid when we turned the car in, and they didn't see a single spec on the windshield. The final inspector didn't even use a picture from the final inspection, he posted a picture from the initial inspection. Really a joke of an operation.

My pre inspection was on a Wednesday. I turned the car in (a few weeks before lease end) on that Saturday.
Pre inspection showed no charges and post turn in inspection showed no charges except lease termination fee of $450.
They did not charge for one door ding or 2 "fisheyes" - paint flaws.
The scope of both inspections was so excessive for a lease return.
Good luck to BofA for trying to recoup losses on their leases & to Lucid for alienating current & future customers.

Request to Mods: Please Pin a Sticky on Lease Return Charges

Mods — given the number of members reporting excessive, inconsistent, and poorly documented lease return charges, can we get a sticky thread to centralize these issues?

Two long threads already show a pattern of problems (surprise charges, reversed pre-inspection findings, cable confusion, and $2K+ windshield fees). A sticky would help raise visibility and might prompt Lucid to respond or clean up their process.

Many of us (myself included) are approaching lease-end and reconsidering our loyalty based on how this is handled.

Thanks for considering it.
