Leak??

So we had some heavy rain overnight, and I worked overnight so my car was in the parking lot. When I came to get in the car this AM it was completely soaked under the driver seat from the back, yet I can’t find any signs of a leak. Also the car lost 30 miles of range overnight while parked, I charged to 490 yesterday, drove 14.8 miles to work, then woke up to find range of 434 this AM. And the vibration in my steering/seat while going over 35mph didn’t get solved by correctly balancing the tires. I can handle the range thing but a leak where exterior water can get in is not OK as that can ruin the carpets etc. Not cool. Here’s photographs of the wet carpet and proof of massive range loss while parked. I feel bad for the detailers who we’re gonna do PPF/ceramic because this will be the 2nd time I’ve had to postpone because of problems with the car.

Wow...the leak thing is a real bummer. That's a real problem. I was concerned I had one after washing the car a couple weeks ago and seeing some liquid spots on the back seat. Then was "relieved" that it was some spillage from my son's drink. But I was pretty freaked out about a few drops. I can't imagine my reaction on the seeing what you saw.

As for the drain, have you had that happen elsewhere? That one seems weird unless maybe the same thing that allowed for the leak was somehow impacting electrical to wake and sleep constantly. Hope you get some answers and fixes soon!

Nope, most drain I had overnight was 6-7 miles if it was in the low 40s out. This was nearly 40 miles of drain. As for the leak it’s totally bizarre, it’s only around carpet the air intake for the cooled seat, it’s dry everywhere else in the car. I am wondering if it the car was doing something in reaction to the leak like you’re saying?

Actually @hmp10 may have figured out the huge vampire drain. I’d charged to 98% because I was gonna bring the car to the PPF place and they were gonna have it for two weeks so I didn’t want it running out while it was there if keyfob was kept near it, etc. Looks like I may have caused my own problem. But not the leak, that sucks! I called Lucid so they’re gonna send a mobile service tech. I really hope today because im off work.

Could it have anything to do with the uneven gap between glass panels? (I think that was your car but apologies if not)

That was the first thing I thought but I checked that and there was no signs of any water in that area inside the car, only on the floor carpet underneath the driver seat and it was VERY soaked. Emilio from the Mass service center called me and is gonna pick the car up and do a leak test.

Such a specific area to have limited leakage! It seemed like water to you? Sorry to hear - curious what the verdict is going to be.

God I hope not. It was definitely water, no smell to it. But the battery is water cooled, correct? Can battery coolant leak upwards into the floor compartment? I just got off the phone with their Northeast service rep Markus and this guy is awesome, super helpful and communicative. And they’re getting me another rental of course, sent a Lyft to come bring me to Hertz etc, so while these problems suck at least they are trying very hard to reduce the inconvenience and respond fast, never had a service experience remotely this good with any carmaker before.

I just confirmed with their rep Markus who talked to the factory people that that’s a physical impossibility thank goodness.

Seems very unlikely that would be a battery coolant leak. Presumably any coolant would have freeze protection so have a smell to it (I.e like ICE coolant…or exactly ICE coolant) and there would be full physical separation between battery and passenger compartment.
The soaked area looks like it is the low point of the floor (a depression). I think it’s water leaking somewhere and making its way down and pooling at that point.

If I had to completely guess, maybe water running down inside/between the doors and emptying at the bottom. Suuuuucks!

Yeah there must be a missing gasket somewhere that’s channeling the water to that one spot, the entire rest of the car is bone dry. Incidentally while I do love so much about the car, the plastic trim at the base of the foot well where the carpet inserts is pretty low quality and the segments of it don’t sit flush. I’d put money on water sneaking underneath or in between those cheap plastic panels.

Oh they took the car to the Massachusetts service center again. I’m currently the proud driver of a 2020 Chrysler 300 from
Hertz until they figure it out.
