Is there a trick to open the home charger cover? It slides up easy enough but not far enough to come off.

Electricians were able to install 100 amp 220v charger and set the dip switches to 80amps. It works great! I have solar producing at peak 40amps so I need to buy the other 40amps from the power company. I would like to reset the dip switches for 40amps. They are located inside the cover that does not seem to be able to come off. Is there a trick to pull the first cover that says “LUCID” off? Thank you!
 
Slide the cover upwards about half an inch. Then pull it straight off. Both actions require a great deal of force and you'll think you are going to break it, or rip it off the wall if it is already wall-mounted. It gets easier the third or fourth time you've had the cover off.

Ten months later, thanks for this reply. I’m having one installed now, and that was a head scratcher. There are three plastic tabs on each side that need to be aligned, and you “work” them off.

I can not imagine who designed it this way and why.... they must really hate me and the feeling is very much mutual!
I read the manual several times. I was able to slide the face with a minor struggle and no damage.
It took me half an hour to undo one clip.... i'm either going to break it next or it will break me :)

I was able to open it eventually without breaking it. Who's idea was to put the the lug connectors in there? That is very inconvenient in the US. HD and Lowes do not sell them in those sizes. Local electric supplies do not carry them. Amazon has everything, but it is full of thin incorrectly sized products and it'll take some effort to find the correct lugs. I get it, the more effort I spend on this project, the more I'll enjoy the result when it's all done, right? :)
 
Quality lugs can be found, but they have to be ordered and it takes time. i went with Panduit. other reputable brands include 3M Scotchlok and Thomas & Betts. I would not recommend buying 'no name' lugs for this project. 80A is no joke!
Considering the price of this charger, Lucid should have included the lugs IMO. I was expecting to have the charger operational this weekend, but because of the lugs it'll have to be next weekend.

Can you post what that specific sizing is? I don’t see the sizing in the install manual and I get my install on Nov 11 so it might really help, Thanks

Sure, you need specifics for the compression lugs, right?
Those are dictated by the wire size and the stud size, both of which are actually specified in the Lucid manual.
Assuming you're wiring this unit for its 'maximum capability', you'll need a 100A circuit with two copper 2 AWG hots and one 8 AWG ground, so the compression lugs must appropriately selected for those wires. Ground carries no current, but is important for safety, hots carry up to 80A and since this can last for many hours you must pick quality lugs. The 'stud size' for the lugs must be appropriate for the M6 bolts used in the charger I believe that means 1/4" studs. I ended up ordering the Panduit LCBX8-14-L lug for the ground connection (8 AWG) and the Panduit LCAX2-14-E lugs for the hots. Both have 1/4 stud size. The ground lug is longer and will go in the middle. Shorter 'hot' studs should make it easier for the thick 2 AWG wires to turn towards the wall where my wiring will be. You mileage may vary, I take no responsibility for any advice, I'm not a licensed electrician, this post is for entertainment value only, etc, etc. :)
 
Thanks for the explanation it sure helps. I would think Qmerit’s recommended electricians would know about these but I’m beginning to doubt that. Hope your weekend install went well.
