Is it just me, or are brands once noted for style and elegance turning out uglier and uglier cars?

This is from the main page of the Bentley website. Not since the Mercedes Maybach Night Edition have I seen a pimpmobile this cheesy:

Yes. It's very interesting how much luxury brands such as Mercedes, BMW, and Cadillac and even ultra-luxury brands such as Maybach, Bentley, and Rolls are catering to that customer base now.

I guess what most surprised me about that picture of the Flying Spur was that Bentley not only designed such an excrescence, but that Bentley marketing chose it as the cover page for their website. It actually seems to be the brand identity for which they're now aiming instead of the well-heeled who don't want to display quite the excess of a Rolls.

Ok, this comparison is not exactly apples to apples, but I found it quite enlightening so I wanted to share. I have long wanted.
a Bentley Flying Spur, and now that I have had my Lucid Air DE a few months, I started wondering if I should sell it, reap a $50k profit, and get a Bentley. Dealer gave me a car for the day and it was VERY educational.

The Bentley is fast for a gasoline car, but nowhere near the Air. And having to deal with transmission shift-downs is horrific, no matter how smooth it is. The Bentley is quiet and luxurious, but not quieter than the Air. The ride is...

I thought that thing was designed for a Chinese/Arab clientele (exclusively) only.
