Inventory / Purchasing

no, they don't even have test driver demo cars yet, people still are waiting on their orders from last fall, I suspect it will be quite a while before they have available inventory

I received a call about several GGTs that have been cancelled by existing customers and are now available. Supposedly, they're already built and have VINs assigned to them.

Right, but they’re calling existing orders first and there are enough that it’s incredibly unlikely there’ll be an inventory to scroll through before year end. Especially since they can’t seem to deliver cars to existing orders right now…

I haven't ordered a Gravity, but when I called to check on the progress of my AGT order, they offered me a Gravity that was already in production and would be available in a couple weeks IIRC.

Guessing you don’t recall correctly. Unless you have a reservation for Gravity you’d be on a long list of recipients.

They have a ton of reservations just from this forum, not to count the people I know personally who aren’t on the forum.

I’d guess they’d just like to switch you over because why not, sales of their new car is amazing and Gravity is an amazing vehicle.

I’d switch, if I was in the market for a Gravity.

No this was a specific car that was available to me if I was interested. I think it had been cancelled by the original buyer. The only thing I'm not sure I recalled correctly is the time frame from giving my ok to delivery.

Well, one never knows with Lucid. There doesn’t really appear to be any sort of priority or intention, so I wouldn’t be surprised if they randomly offered a Gravity to someone. Ultimately, they don’t really have many to sell, so they’ll have no issue selling whatever they are able to produce in the “near” future.

They seem to be all over the place, tbh. My wife also received a call and she never placed an order for a Gravity. So it seems they may have a reasonable number of built vehicles?

Which would be a not so great indication of demand. Or they’re not using Salesforce (their CRM) correctly. Maybe they need agentforce…. 😂 I knew when my SA pulled up Salesforce that things weren’t going to be smooth.

But again, no one knows. Even Lucid doesn’t know - therein lies the problem.

I think there have been lots of cancellations. There are very few people that would be comfortable purchasing a $120-140K vehicle without a legit test drive. IMO they should probably prioritize getting the canceled vehicles into showrooms so that they can increase demand.

That’s fair. It’s one thing to order it, another thing when they call and say “time to pay”. But, many, many people bought Teslas and Rivians without ever test driving them. That may have just been a different time.

I am pretty sure that the few cars being offered are ones without HUD. Considering the HUD shortage, it will be interesting to see if after Lucid is done delivering cars with current limited supply of HUD hardware (mainly DE’s) and initial non-HUD orders, if they then start building and offering as ‘in inventory” non-HUD vehicles while they slowly ramp up HUD vehicles this fall.

Based on @borski getting his Gravity Dream Edition within the next 20 days (due to titling) I’d say the HUD is shipping with the vehicles coming out the door. But maybe he can say if they are going to retrofit it.
