I finally turned the HUD off today. I’ve concluded that due to the vertical position not going low enough it’s too distracting and dangerous for city driving. The image is too high in my sightline and interferes with safely seeing pedestrian and cross traffic. Once I turned it off I found the car much easier and more pleasant to drive, and certainly less distracting. I miss the blind spot warning triangles a little bit, but I still have those on the mirrors.

I will probably only use the HUD for long highway trips when the blind spot warning is more useful for lane changes at high speed, and you’re looking farther down the road.

It would be great if the positioning could be fixed with a software update, but based on my understanding of the hardware that is not likely to be the case. This is one of the perils of buying a 1st generation vehicle. I hope they fix it with the next iteration. I love my Gravity, but I know Mercedes/BMW/Audi/Porsche would’ve iterated the HUD to perfection.
 
I'm driving an EQS right now and I can't say the HUD is that great. Maybe the upgraded one in more expensive MBs but the non-AR one in this EQS is, IMO, worse than the Gravity and has more distracting reflections.

Interesting to know. I can’t understand how vertical positioning wasn’t caught and fixed in the Gravity prototype. Don’t get me started on the watermelon holder.

I definitely have to say I am not at all impressed with the EQS. It's a rental while my Gravity is in for service. The interior has a lot of obvious plastic, it's not at all quiet and the displays/controls are just way too complicated. Yes, you can control a lot of stuff but they made it annoying to have to wade through menus. I miss the Gravity after a few days with this thing.

The custom LED interior lighting though? Lucid needs to look at the EQS, it's 1000x better in every way.

Also, the silly sound effects it makes when accelerating are growing on me. It's very scifi. lol

I only use the HUD when navigating where it's actually useful. I wish they had a setting so that it only turned on when navigating.

Lucid recalibrated mine and it became unusable. It was right in my line of sight and practically covering up the cars in front of me. If I went to reposition it, I could practically project it halfway up the windshield, I had to turn it off.

Before they recalibrated it the text basically sat under the bumper of the cars in front of me which was perfect. I would definitely raise it with Lucid to see if it’s not calibrated correctly. Mine is back in the shop to be rectified.

I can adjust the HUD projection height by a few cm in my Hyundai using the touch screen. Lucid HUD doesn’t do this?

I turn the brighness level so low that it is barely there - allows me to glance at current speed and which level of DDP is engaged, but only as a slight overlay.

As currently calibrated, I don't see it as worthwhile - if it ever goes AR, I'll be more interested in getting it right. I have to believe they will get it corrected some day, but I don't care if it's there or not right now.

There is a vertical adjustment on the touchscreen for the HUD, but it doesn’t place the image low enough on the windshield. The image is basically in your line of sight, even at the lowest vertical setting.

Yeah, I’ve already got it on the the lowest brightness. If it would dim more that might make it less distracting, although harder to see/less useful.

This is one option package that I think makes the car a little bit worse. The HUD doesn't work well due to limitations on positioning and brightness. In exchange you get a reflection of its big frame in the windshield, whether you use the HUD or not. So for some of us you end up spending quite a bit of money for a few more feet of (admittedly nice) ambient lighting. I haven't turned it off yet, because I'm stubborn, but it annoys me more than it helps.

I like it. I wasn't sure when I got my Gravity but I've come to like it a lot more than I thought I would.
 
Same. I don't think it's worth the price and I wish I could adjust it lower. But other than that I like it... or at least I don't hate it.
 
It grows on you. I use it all the time, and the navigation on the head is particularly useful. Definitely a lot of room for improvement, though.

I like it but is it worth the money Lucid is charging for it? Hell no! With its current functionality, it should be included as standard at no cost for the price point of the vehicle.

Lucid is charging a premium based on promises that they can’t even tell people when those promises are going to be delivered. Furthermore, the website is very misleading as they’re leading people to believe that AR is already enabled on the HUD. It’s false advertising at this point.

They’re charging more than BMW for less features than a Kia.

I now keep the HUD turned off. I kept trying to like it but the positioning is just too far off. It is even more annoying when I go from the Gravity to my Lexus, which has perfect positioning on the HUD display.

They're talking about the gap behind the 2nd row seats. Promotional video still shows a cover magically appearing as the seats all fold down making the back cargo area one large flat bed.... but the reality of what Lucid delivered instead was a cargo space with a gap (the 3rd row foot space...even in 5 seater version 🙄) that interrupts that flat space.

Other posters proposed it was to hold watermelons from rolling around back there 🤪
