I’d say layoffs to the service department are starting to have an effect…

The location definitely makes a difference. Nobody picks up the phone at the Houston service/parts and nobody returned the messages I left. So I called KoP and someone in parts picked up immediately.

What sucks now is that I'm going to need to have my suspension/alignment checked after hitting a pothole on the interstate which blew out the tire and bent the heck out of the wheel, and I'm sure there's no way I'm going to be able to get that done before I have to leave on another road trip in 2 weeks, and since this isn't a warranty work thing, I won't get a loaner which means I either need to risk driving 5000+ miles round trip on an uncertain suspension, or spending $2k+ renting a car that's not nearly as nice to drive, defeating a huge part of the reason for the road trip.

In Houston I recommend Sal’s Auto Sport (Hwy 290 near Beltway 8). They were recommended to me by a friend who is a manager at Discount Tire. I had a Mercedes AMG that the dealer screwed up alignment after small fender bender and they got it dead on. Since repair would not be under warranty, they could at least check to be sure nothing is bent and then if just a little out of alignment, should be able to take care of that (all on the same day).

Unfortunately, I'm not actually near Houston. I'm in DFW, about 1hr+ from the Plano show room.

But I very much appreciate the suggestion .

Same principle. Find a good alignment shop in DFW area and have them check and align if needed.

I love Discount Tire! They are good, fast, often no appointments required. Service with a smile!

A couple of months ago, I took my AGT to Costco in Paradise Valley because I found a screw in the tire that caused the leak. Costco did not want to work on my tire and the leak because "they didn't have the proper lift point equipment." So, I took it to Discount Tire, no appointment. They just used a regular tire jack to jack up the car and fixed the tire.

On the day of my service, they had15-20 young mechanics running around doing the work. These guys were fast and efficient. After they fixed my tire, the tech came up to me to apologize it took longer than usual because my (Pirelli) tire was foam filled. They repair was free. Tire rotation is also free.

I think not all the Discount Tire stores can do wheel alignment. My understanding is that there are a couple Discount Tire shops in the metro Phoenix area that can do alignment.

I will probably need new tires in the next12-18 months. Guess where I am going to get new tires!

Yeah that’s my understanding too. Out here the only DT that can do alignment is out in the east bay

Forgive my ignorance,

> can a company like Discount Tires do wheel alignment on Lucid cars without affecting the warranty?

As I posted earlier today and another thread, I’ve had overall very good experience in Miami. They even dropped me off air loaners for every service to my house or my office.

Unless you are dead set on Discount, shameless plug for Rishie at ZEVcentric (Fremont) who will also do track prep alignments (great guy devoted to EVs).

Yes.

No affiliation but these guys post on the Tesla forum about their services all the time - at least worth a call to see if they could check your alignment?

At this point, is there even anyone still working at the Houston SC? I call and nobody ever answers. I leave messages and nobody ever calls back.

Even the Natick SC here in MA is backed up for over a month for appointments. :(

Somebody earlier had a similar issue and called the nearest Studio, who forward their calls since the SC apparently had a new number.
Worth a shot...

After being unable to schedule anything at Houston or reach anyone there, I contacted Customer Service (HQ) and reported my issues. Even they tried to contact Houston SC and could not get anyone to answer. Until this is resolved, I would caution any new prospective owners in Texas to seriously reconsider Lucid purchase at this time. If you have anything go wrong with your new purchase, it could be months before it is repaired.

To me, this service (or lack there of) issue is by far the biggest problem with Lucid at this time. It makes the fob and black screen issues of last year pale in comparison. At least back when we were having the fob and black screen issues, we got updates from Lucid that they were awhere of the issue and what steps they were taking to address it. With these service issues it has been total radio silence.

That takes guts to not even answer calls from the mothership 😂

Until these past few months, I have had great experiences with Lucid's Service Center/Mobile techs in both Scottsdale and San Mateo. But things have changed!

I've had several talks with the Scottsdale SC staff about my concerns vis-a-vis, long lead time to schedule services, getting an appointment doesn't mean your car will be serviced, it just means you are now in the queue. After doing most of my services at Scottsdale for the past 3-1/2 years, I don't recognize anyone in the SC from the old days.

The people there are fine. They try to do their best. But the staffing and service/queue management system is insane! When I complained, they actually agree with me. But they are not empowered to change things.

Service Centers are not the sexiest parts of Lucid's business. However, if they don't pay attention to the service centers, it WILL sink Lucid!

That would be unfortunate, since service units are typically profit centers for traditional car "dealerships." Now that original Airs are going out of warranty, service calls will be charged.
