Anyone around here gone to a high performance driving event in their Lucid? I am planning to go to one at NJ Motorsports Park on April 5 - first time at such an event for me. But the car needs to be safety inspected before then.

Does anyone know a shop they like who will work on a Lucid?

How'd the track day go? I instructed for BMW, NASA, Porsche and a few others for years. My one-word thought on tracking it: "Heavy". I'm curious how it went. What organization did you run with?

I did not end up going though I'd hoped to do a PCA RTR event. Turns out NJMP does not allow EVs. Closest track that does is Pocono supposedly and I could not make any Pocono track day work with my schedule at that time.

I do see there's an EA location in East Stroudsburg so maybe it's time to take another look as I was worried about charging to get home. Just want to explore the car's capabilities a bit more than I could on a public road. I suppose if I really got into the hobby I'd have to get an ICE car - and a bigger garage!

The Lucid service center at KOP would fill out a track day safety form as per the manager I asked last year. Didn't get as far as seeing if PCA would accept it.

Glad to have any words of wisdom from an instructor :)

I think it's awesome you want to 'explore the capabilities'. I really do. But one of the problems is in such a high horsepower car you can get into some real trouble real quick. It's one of the reasons I started moving away from instructing - first timers 'think' they're good drivers until they stab throttle too early, spin and stuff it into the wall saying 'what the f.. just happened'? We use the term 'you didn't run out of road, you ran out of talent'. Personally, my motto is 'learn to drive a slow car fast'. My first event was at Pocono in an E36 M3 (which I still have). A year later, I was in an E30 with half the HP and a cage. Track days can be a slippery slope. One day you're dreaming about seeing what the car can do and the next day, there's a tow vehicle, enclosed trailer and dedicated track weapon in your driveway. :) As long as you're willing to believe you're exploring the limits of YOU and not the car, go for it!

Yes - I know I don't know what I'm doing and there is no chance I could drive a Lucid at the limit on a track without catastrophe :) Agree on the slow car fast philosophy.

Sadly (happily?) I don't have physical space for a second car let alone a trailer...

Son is home for summer.
Has Miata.

We've talked about Pocono for years. You wanna ? Let's get some Lucid locals to show up some day this year. There are many schools and options.
