Curious if there hot spot functionality in the vehicle?
Built-in Wi-Fi hotspot availability varies by brand and model:No vehicle manufacturer offers the ability to use the vehicle as a hot spot. We don’t pay for the vehicle connection.
I am certain there are a dozen things Gravity does that the Subaru doesn’t.Even Subaru has them on the ascent
There is no hotspot in the Air.I need some help understanding what happens in the car with my WiFi: I have my WiFi on at home and at work for obvious reasons and have no problems. When I walk to my car, the door unlocks with a varying degree of delay. Oddly, it doesn’t respond with the phone in my pocket but if I take it out and wake it up (not unlock), the door unlocks.
Once in the car, I can listen to podcasts and NotebookLM for a while but then they stop after about 20mins. In order to resume, I have to toggle my WiFi off and then the media plays again.
Am I using a hotspot in my Air that has data limit? Truly curious because it didn’t start happening until a few weeks ago.
You can run a hotspot on your phone and connect the car’s wifi to that.Just rethinking how things are done... You know when you get into your car how the phone connects to the car via Bluetooth? Why doesn't your phone then become the cellular data connection for the car? Or at least have that as an option. I'm thinking of the people who have poor AT&T signal in their area. If the car was instead using the cell phone carrier you'd picked for its data connection the signal would be presumably better.
On my non-Lucid cars where a cellular hot spot was offered I never felt like I wanted to pay an additional $40/month or whatever for it. I'm already paying that to have a wireless internet connection on my phone.
Since the Air doesn’t have a built-in hotspot, anything that was buffered or maintaining a Wi-Fi connection could potentially behave oddly when the connection disappears.
