Bidirectional charging may be required on EVs soon due to new CA law

Gov. Newsom signed a bill into law which will allow the CEC to require grid-saving bidirectional charging on EVs when it deems appropriate.

V2H requires equipment at the panel. If one is in an area that has lots of power outages, I think I would rather go for a generator so my EV battery would be available for use in the car. If you live in an area that doesn't get a lot of power outages, such as my area, then I think V2L is a better alternative. Just hook up your refrigerator(s), a cooking piece of equipment when you need it, and wait it out.

Personally, for most folks, I just don't see the value proposition for V2H.

California Governor Newsom just signed a bill that supposedly is encouraging V2H/V2G for EVs. Not sure if the holdup is PG&E, Lucid, or something else?? But in any case, having both our EV's available to supply power to our home or if appropriate to the Grid could be advantageous.
