Hello everyone,

I'm thrilled to have found this forum and wanted to introduce myself. I'm from Hamburg in northern Germany and I'm truly grateful for all the helpful information I've already received here. I really appreciate the tone and exchange of ideas in this community.

About a month ago, I took delivery of my white Lucid Air Touring (Stealth). While I'm generally satisfied with the car, I'm still dealing with a few teething problems. Prior to this, I owned an Audi eTron GT for three years.

I'm looking forward to further discussions and exchanges with you all. Thank you for all the great tips I've received so far.

Best regards from Hamburg
Michael

Hi Michael, greetings from Düsseldorf! :) Same here, Air Touring, Stellar White, Stealth, Mojave, Software v2.2.10.

Welcome to the forum. Years ago in my auto industry days (mid-1990s), I was a BMW fanatic. On one of my monthly business trips to Germany I took delivery of a beautiful 540i using the tourist purchase program. Back then, the autobahns were a lot of fun. Now I think much more traffic congestion. Enjoy your Lucid. I’m enjoying mine.

What teething issues are you experiencing?

How does the Lucid Air Touring compare to your past etron GT in terms of speed and driving dynamics?

Thanks for the warm welcome and nice words. Sorry for my late reply, i was for holiday in alaska and yukon the past 4 Weeks and therefore couldn't react (or enjoy my new Lucid).

So for the questions of teething issues, there are unfortunately a couple of them. From having a limitiation on playing music from usb-sticks (it seems to be limited to 6000 files in the lucid, which is even less than I had in the really antiquated MMI of my E-Tron), over Problems with sensors and connectivitiy (complete outage in europe for several days due to issues with the onboard sim from orange) to the fact, that at least in Germany the software of lucid isn't updated very fast (I am still on 2.2.10 which is the most recent version here, according to customer services). But all of these Problems are acceptable and don't overshadow the joy over the new car too much.

Regarding the Reactions from other Peoples here in germany: They have been soley interrested and positive. I got very often questions about "What car is this" because you don't see it on the streets often. On charging stops it is often recognised as a lucid an then many questions come up regarding the charging speed etc. But I had not a single bad reaction in the past 2 Months.

For a direct comparsion with my e-tron gt: I am a little dissapointed regarding the charging curve of the car. My Touring loads significantly slower overall than my e-tron gt. The e-tron gt could reach 240kwh for a real long time when you arrived with an 10-20% soc on an HPC. The Lucid peaks for 1-2 Minutes at the begining and than decreaes quite quickly leading to longer charging times overall.

The range is also not a real improvement on the e-tron gt (contrary to what was hoped for). With the same driving behavior, I achieve about 20-30km more range, which falls well short of my expectations. A Grand Touring from Lucid would certainly be an upgrade here, but my Touring is really more of a disappointment when you come from the 4-year-old e-tron GT and expect an improvement (as the WLTP values are really better).

The aspect that bothers me the most is the unrealistic range of the Lucid that is displayed in the cockpit (I know the same from Tesla). In my E-Tron GT from Audi, for example, I was shown a range of 350 km and I achieved that. My Lucid always shows 600km+ (on a full charge), which then realistically ends at around 350-400km. This makes me trust the car less.

One last thing I miss from my Audi: I had all-wheel steering there which produced a much smaller turning circle for the same length of car. In Germany the garages are sometimes really small and here I have to maneuver more with the Lucid.

But that all sounds more negative than it is. I'm happy every time I get into the car and really enjoy it. For example, I really like the navigation (compared to the Audi), I love Dolby Atmos via Tidal and I find the interior extremely spacious and comfortable. So, please don't take this post the wrong way: I'm really happy with the decision to buy my Lucid.

Finally, I have to say that the Lucid staff in Germany (especially here in Hamburg) make a great effort and are very responsive. I hope that this remains the case, as this is a big advantage over the “premium brands” Audi, BMW etc., which have become worse and worse in this respect.

Finally, thank you again for the warm welcome and all the information you have already put together as a community. It really makes it easier for me as a newcomer to find my way in this new world.

Great list. Thanks!
Charging speed is indeed a bit disappointing. On an empty battery even the BMW IX with its 400Volt system charges at a higher rate than the Touring. Haven't seen anything higher than 150KW at a 300KW charger, even if the only car. No pre-conditioning on either for comparison.
Range is great at 80mph but the Lucid gets really thirsty when driven faster. ;)

Preconditioning makes a huge difference.
