What version of software are you on? I’ve been having a number of issues with it on 3.3.8
 
I'm on 3.3.5, didn't notice I'm behind. I'll try updating and see if that makes a difference

Same, there are times where halo secure doesn’t recognize the USB. This is a new issue from 3.3.8. This didn’t happen prior to 3.3.8.

3.3.5 is the latest as Lucid pulled 3.3.8 shortly after they released it. Some owners got it installed before they pulled the update. Try disabling the options for Halo Secure, remove the USB, reboot the software, put the USB in and see if it's detected and can be formatted. Not sure if that works but worth a shot at least. Also, it's still very much in beta so this could just be part of the problem also.

The car will format the drive for you, so don't worry about formatting it. Sometimes, the car simply doesn't mount it correctly. You can fix it by ejecting it and reinserting it, but it may take a try or two.
 
Can confirm soft resetting the car, will help dentify the USB for Halo Secure.
Also Samsung T9 4TB doesn't work only 2TB does - but that is overboard anyway
 
That is what happened, I left the drive there for a couple days and then when I tried again it recognized it and took me through the formatting screen
 
I'm 5 days into owning my Gravity and I just dried to look at my Halo USB to see what the videos look like. They show up as .bin files on my mac. Any idea how to view those? I expected them to be MP4 or similar video format.
 
I got an off-brand 128GB thumbdrive from Amazon that says it's 12 MB/sec write speed (25 MB/sec read), but the car says it's not fast enough (7.5/20 minimum required).

It was only $12.99, so maybe the speed is falsely advertised. https://a.co/d/0hB86KKB

Anyone having a similar problem?

Probably low quality. There are reviews which complain of slow speeds.

Keep in mind that cars get very cold/hot and you’ll want that recording in the event of a crash. Lucid recommends temperature/shock resistant USB drives.

I got the Samsung Fit Plus 512 GB because of the form factor but it’s out of stock. It is rugged:

⁴Waterproof: withstand up to 72 hours in seawater. ⁴Temperature proof: Withstands -13°F to 185°F operating, - 40°F to 185°F non-operating. ⁵X-Ray Proof: Up to 50 Roentgen (equal to airport X-ray machines). ⁶Magnetic Proof up to 15,000 gauss, or the magnetic field equivalent of a highfield MRI. ⁷Shock proof: shock up to 1,500g* (g*: gravitational acceleration).​

Samsung Bar Plus 512 GB may be a good alternative.

I have been having the same issue and tried many USB's until I got a reply back from Lucid on what drive works. Its a USB from Amazon

Since adding it in as a FAT32 format I have had no issues with the drive recorder.
 
Unfortunately flash drive prices just jumped as a result of NAND memory shortages caused by the AI craze. This SanDisk has worked flawlessly for me but I bought it before the price hikes: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DJ336HC8
 
I just got a double-ended 128GB USB drive so I could format it on my laptop (no USB2) via the USB3 end. Popped it in & it got formatted again by the car, so I guess that means it's doing what it's supposed to do.

After the first cheaper one I got didn't work, I got one of these. Seems to work. I just put it in and the car formatted it (I didn't need to first). $18.
