2025 Lucid Air Pure
Hey there Lucid folks, Tesla refugee here. Ditched my Model S and picked up my quantum grey stealth 2025 Air Pure on Friday. So far--loving the driving experience and it definitely feels like a more luxurious upgrade from the Model S.

There's some stuff I'm gettiing used to in the transition though... feels like the user interface is a definite work in progress compared to the Tesla. Looking forward to seeing how OTA upgrades make this car better over the next three years!

I see there's a pretty active socal user group so maybe I'll see some of you at future events...

At the last meetup in Santa Ana, the Lucid rep said there would probably be something on Earth Day weekend. And I'll probably be setting up something smaller in San Diego in early May.

Earth Day 2022 was my delivery date so that would be my 3 year anniversary 🥹

Welcome, @miscreant! It’s a wonderful community here. What finally convince you to make the switch to Lucid?

Thanks! Well aside from the obvious stuff that's going on with Tesla as a brand these days, my 2019 Model S was starting to show a little age with creaks and rattles and a loose driver's side door panel that I'd have to bang with my elbow to get it seated back in the trim clips. Before Tesla I owned a few ICE BMWs which I really enjoyed and I missed having a nice interior with great driving dynamics. About a month ago I walked by the Lucid studio in Pasadena and couldn't stop thinking about it. Took a couple test drives and the rest is history!

I'll probably miss Superchargers a little bit, and I really did like the UI in Tesla, but I'd rather DRIVE this car.

Lucid will have access to Tesla supercharger network later this year so you won’t miss it for very long.

I also agree with you about enjoying a car that I can drive.

Yeah, the test drive, that’s what did it… moved from the S to the Air in January. It’s the driving that makes all the difference.

Yeah I have seen that and the sales rep at Lucid said the same, but I was reading in another thread that charging will be capped at 50kW. Any truth to that?

Because the Tesla Superchargers use outdated 400V technology, the Lucid Air requires a DC to DC voltage step up to the 900V battery that is limited to 50kW.

Only true for Lucid Air at a 400v station like Tesla Supercharger because of the limitation of the Wunderbox.

Not so with Lucid Gravity. It can charge at 400v stations like Tesla Supercharger at the speed of 225kW. My guess is it uses motor-inverter as a voltage booster instead. It's similar to the 2020 article talking about Hyundai/Kia:
