Gravity Wheel Options

I have been wheel shopping and the easiest swap seems to be to just grab a set of Land Rover wheels, just not obvious how much load bearing we need to factor in, looking at 950kg per wheel currently and wondering if we need even more than that.

We're taking delivery next week of a Gravity with the 22/23" wheels. However, as we've had no problems with the 21" wheels on our Air, I don't expect to have any problems with the large Gravity wheels . . . which actually have taller sidewalls than the tires on the largest Air wheels. (The Air 21" tires have 3.4" front sidewalls and 3.7" rear sidewalls. The Gravity 22/23" tires have 4.2" front sidewalls and 3.9" rear sidewalls.)

The Gravity is considerably heavier, of course.
 
On the subject of wheels, does anyone know if the 20/21s have removable aero covers or are they all one piece?

I feel like they’re removable but I can’t figure out how to remove them.

My delivery guy and I tried when I took delivery and we didn’t want to risk breaking it lol.

You have to be able to remove them because the lugs are under the covers.

I think that may only be true of the 21/22s (which is what the manual shows). I think the lugs are exposed on the smallest wheels.

Hmm, maybe you're right.. I thought only the largest wheels had exposed lugs.

Well now that I have the car...I'm still not entirely sure whether the aero caps come off. I can definitely get like half of each one to unsnap but I'm too paranoid to apply the amount of force it feels like it would take to get the rest of it off haha. Maybe once the honeymoon period is over I'll try again.

Are the lugs exposed? If not, there are covers and they come off.

Has anyone with 20/21 Voyager wheels been able to verify if the wheel covers are removable? If so, do any of you have any pics of what they look like without the covers?

I’m nearly positive that they are removable from what I’ve seen while messing with them but I haven’t yanked them all the way off yet

Yes you can request the SC to remove & all wheels the covers are removable 20" & 21"

That is a photo of an air wheel followed by front photo of a mid size wheel, so none relating to actual question.
 
How many are putting new tires and rims on their gravity? I am not a big fan of the color or tire/rim choices. After much constrenation, i decided to do a matte dark gray(maybe pewter, havent gotten the shade figured out yet with the lucid yellow on some accent pieces. After i get the wrap done, ill figure out the rims that would look best but was hoping for some feedback from the community?

I'm still waiting on my Gravity to be manufactured, but I am planning on putting new tires on it. I live up in the California mountains at ~6400' elevation, and we get plenty of cold weather and snow. The temperatures aren't as cold as many parts of the country, but I want tires that are better than just "all season". My current vehicle has Michelin Cross Climate 2 tires, which are 3PMSF rated, and I'll be looking for something equivalent for the Gravity. I'm waiting with baited breath to see what winter tire options Lucid announces. My current order has the 20/21 wheel size. It'd be nice for the OEM winter tire options to get announced before I go into production, as it's possible they'll have an option for the 21/22 wheels that I like the best. But it's also possible that their announcement will be irrelevant to me, as I'm not going to put dedicate winter tires on the car, and they've been a little vague about whether or not one of the tire options will be more winter focused all-seasons.
 
Ordering 2 piece 22/23 wheels. In the meantime, I removed the covers on my 20/21 wheels.

Note, you need to remove the wheels to remove the covers. On the 20/21s the covers are screwed on from the back with T25 screws. Here’s some pics.

That seems to me to be such a dumb design to screw them on with TEN t25 screws, but not sure i know of a better solution. Not a big fan of aero type range enhancing covers. I personally find the ROI for increased range for a, granted personal opinion, inherently worse look. I have used both on my X and found the improved range was about 2-5%. That personally meant that i went from a 240 miles to 250 miles, maybe 255.

Ill take some good looking rims over increased range on an already great ranged vehicle any day.
