lucid Gravity
I bought my Gravity about ten days ago, but I’ve only had it in my possession for maybe three of those days because it’s been at the service center due to the key fob not being recognized.

I absolutely love the car. It’s phenomenal. But my family only has one vehicle—the Gravity—and the two times it’s failed have been with our young kids in the back seat. One of those times, I was blocking traffic and had to wait 90 minutes for a tow truck. I was mortified.

At this point, if this latest service issue isn’t fixed, I think I want out of my lease.

Does anyone know what Lucid’s policy is on this? Or who to talk. Lucid isn’t providing answer on who to talk to.

I’ve already asked my attorneys to look into the lemon law, but from what I understand, I might need one more incident before it qualifies.

I imagine they'll be somewhat reluctant to take it back, particularly with the bank having to be involved. So no specific advice, but go as high up the chain as you can. Talk to your SA first, but escalate quickly.

And remember, you can start nice and then switch to angry, but going the other way is hard. Same deal with using a lawyer.

You should have a lease contract that spells out an early termination penalty.

If you don't want to pay the fee, you might want to pay a lawyer to prove the lemon law.

Not going to be easy to get out of especially when Lucid says it’s addressing the issue. Some states have a cooling off period but it’s usually very short. Lemon law will be the same, you are not meeting the requirements yet to start that process.

It’s yours now man. I hate my Lucid experience too; but I like the car.

Anyways, you’re in it for the duration of the contact so might as well enjoy it once they make it enjoyable.

You might be able to Lemon Law it but not for a while. 30 days in a shop total usually.

Sorry for your experience. Sounds mortifying.

Are you aware of the fob reset trick? That may help you in a future circumstance. I’m led to understand that should have a 100% success rate.

New member here in northern Virginia, as we just took delivery of our Lucid Gravity two weeks ago. Since then, it showed numerous warning lights ('DreamDrive limited' and 'no key detected') and didn't switch on twice--conveniently while our kids were waiting to be picked up from activities. Interior lights turned on, but the dash did not. Had to call customer care, who advised to do a hard reboot which eventually (after waiting 10+ minutes for a rep) resolved the issue.

Then, three days ago, the car wouldn't recognize the key fob or key cards at all. After 30+ min of trouble shooting via customer care (hard rebooting, internal discussions, then attempting the reset trick by removing fob battery and pressing the unlock button), they gave up and sent out a tow truck. It's been with the Tysons Galleria Service Center for a couple of days now, and will likely need engineer involvement.

Very nice car, but I no longer trust it. If I could hand the keys back and walk away, I'd do so in a heartbeat. :(

The "fob reset trick"? What is that? Mine was working fine…now buttons not working, proximity open not working; nada, zip!

When you say “the two times it failed”, what happened? I am asking genuinely as we’ve seen a lot of posts about the fob issues, but very few where folks were actually stranded. Was the car on and driving fine and just stopped working? Or it wouldn’t start with fob or key card?

In short, this is a known issue and a fix is coming out (literally) as we speak.
And (literally) as we write (not speaking…literally) the fix (3.3.5) is out…have installed it; did battery key reset ("in rare cases"…right!!!!) and buttons on fob still do not work. Will take key fob into service center…for third time (2nd "firmware update" on key fob…and they switched it out once…)

As has been mentioned multiple times, you will not see the benefit of 3.3.5 until you get the second key fob update, so it makes absolute sense you’d still be having issues.

And if FOB reboot fails… try a new battery in fob… I carry a spare… and a battery checker meter (green or red no proper voltages ) If battery is near red at all time for new one… pegs green when good. Only replaced mine once so far… rebooted FOB about 6 times before sw fix arrived. Haven’t needed my FOB kit since the car and FOB update. Also… I happen to sleep at opposite end of house from garage… so overnights the FOB and the car are not chatting endlessly which might have accounted for some of the early FOB oddities and dead batteries. Apparently these cars occasionally need therapy sessions with their mothership while “resting”
